Paterson

with Ward out, please don't play Bogle in front of Paterson.
Bogle lacks game awareness and his heading is poor. I rate Paterson as a centre forward as my previous posts have indicated, but i know i am in a minority. If not Paterson then play NML in the centre, instead.

NML was dreadful as a forward option and was about to be replaced before the goal.

Bogle deserve a shot for me. Also with Bristol next there's a bit of a redemption needed and I'd be reminding him of what happened last time he played against Bristol

Gary Madine needs to be given a chance to turn his career here around
He is the best we have available and has a point to prove if he wants a move in January
We dont need to play a right back up front when we have a proven championship striker in the stands

In my opinion Patterson should never play upfront, I've not seen anthing in him to suggest he can be effect as a forward.

Bogle probably deserves his chance, although wasn't it Bristol he was sent off against.

Medine may get a chance away.

I thought NML done exceptionally well up front with 10 men.
Ran, closed down, defended and went on a few lung bursting runs late on when there were no other options for him.

Bogle should start next week for me.

Madine "a proven Championship striker"?

27 goals in 170 Championship games.

Proven waste of money is what he is.

I'd rather play Morrison up front.

I dont think I said goalscorer ?
I said striker , and 170 games gives him a lot of experience. He is a much much better option than Patterson

Bogle for me.
Gutted about Ward though. What was he thinking ?

Madine is useless.

Why are you calling Paterson a rightback?

How many times has he played right back for us?

He’s got a hell of a goal scoring record for an out of position rightback if that’s what your suggesting he is.

Re: Paterson

Patterson scored goals in the premiership he is clearly the best striker we have .. Madine does need to be giving a chance all that money and he is sat around going to waste he again has shown he an score in the championship but I would start Patterson there while Ward is out

So, what's the difference in your eyes between a goalscorer and a striker (surely someone who is a striker..."strikes" the back of the net!)

He signed as a right back
He played right back for Hearts
He plays right back for Scotland

He is used as a utility player here but has been a right back his whole career. He is definitely not a striker

To say Patterson should never play up front is a strange comment, He scored 4 goals in the premership in 27 games , 1 this season and his clever header got Bogle in the box yesterday for the penalty, He also would have scored if the penalty was not given.

Re: Paterson

Sun Nov 03, 2019 5:19 pm

48 goals in 206 career games? (15 in 69 for city) Classed as utility player but mainly midfield or right back ! He certainly is not a recognised forward player like eg glatzel bogle ect only been used as temporary striker for clubs.....

Re: Paterson

Sun Nov 03, 2019 5:58 pm

So 15 goals in 69 games, a lot of those games coming on as sub or being in midfield.

We therefore can safely say if he played every game as a centre forward he would score a minimum of 10 goals per season. In my mind that is a striker and much better than we have now.

Re: Paterson

Worth giving another go, looks to have lost some weight and cetainly the best header of a ball of all our C/f

10 was in our promotion season 4 in premier is it one this season? If that good why as NW spent countless millions for a centre forward when we've got him? Paterson offers nothing but harassing opposition but if that pleases fans so be it. :old:

Re: Paterson

Only harassing defenders and scoring when being played as a centre forward seems fine to me,

Warnock admits himself he is not great at identifying/ buying strikers which is proven by Madine and Glatzel . He should try to improve what he already has.

Bogle deserves a chance now. Holds ball up well and not that bad in the air for me. Plus has decent pace
