When I played, I enjoyed playing in the rain. In fact, my memories are mostly of playing teams in and around the Rhondda Valleys, playing on exposed pitches in hail, sleet and cold winds. Good old days, although I'm sure the sun must have been shining from time to time. I'm surprised this modern generation of overpaid spoilt footballers even allow themselves to get wet, and it's a wonder they don't insist on having someone running alongside them with an umbrella during the game.

I played Rugby more than I played Football but I agree and the sentiment is the same.

Played a Football Cup final at Ton Pentre in bleak conditions but the worst ever for me was a 7's Rugby tournament in hailstones now that was brutal and almost an a par with a time I had asthma attack at the bottom of a ruck on a rain soaked field in Abertillery, luckily can laugh about it now

Try trelai park six inches of mud so cold was substituted as suffering from hypothermia (was a goalie) through being wet and covered in thick mud as anyone experienced trelai park knows.. :laughing6:

Dowlais Top, Merthyr, the ref abandoned the game due to hailstones the size of golf balls. 22 players huddled in the middle of the pitch like penguins in the South Pole
