Depends who issued it. If it was a registered company like Parking Eye, then pay it, as the charge (it's not a fine) will only increase and a County Court date can/will be set with you having a limited time to pay up or attend (and all that entails for your credit rating)

The rules have changed and there is now Case Law used in favour of the 'approved' companies

I can only advise but I was previously an advocate of 'ignore' until a friend of mine was charged £40 (Parking Eye) for parking in the wrong bay at the Heath Hospital, which rose to £70 and the £140 (with Court costs) when the letter arrived with a provisional County Court date on it

Effectively, £280 an hour to park in a 'free' car park for 27 minutes! :banghead:

Did you enter via their petrol station entrance or go via other entrance? Curious as cannot see cameras on petrol stations entrance or when you leave either...
Ps was it a paper ticket or through post one?

Sven while its free at uhw for 4hrs it does have restrictions in place for certain areas like drop off in concourse area thats about 10mins or get fined, theres two sets of cameras there one for disabled area one for drop off that's how they manage times... same applies for permit area you need specific permit for designated area
(must be displayed) otherwise get ticket even if got permit that is for uhw it must be for that area..

Thanks, looks like il pay the £40 and park somewhere else then, did some research online and it does look as if the regulations have changed.

This was because I was parked there for too long, so not sure that would work

Wise decision; and it chokes me to see your hard earned going to those circling Vultures! :(

Thanks, Allan; and I know you have good knowledge of medical premises

The 'issue' in this case was that my friend parked their car in the busy main multi-storey car park and spent some time finding a space of any description. Running late, poorly lit and posted, as well as not being up to speed with new Regulations, they accidentally parked in a 'Staff' space.

Fully understand these spaces are allocated for that purpose (staff) but the circumstances above were genuine and the purpose for being there (and under pressure to get back to their place of work) was equally valid but to their discredit, (a) the hospital didn't want to know, and (b) the company, Parking Eye, seemingly ignored the appeal (no response) other than setting about issuing further letters, each of which increased the 'charge' (not fine) until a provisional County Court date was issued with the additional 'admin' charges that included

I'm not condoning the error that occurred in the parking itself and I appreciate why parking monitoring/time limits are used at venues close to the city centre (inc. near the football stadium) but I equally cannot condone the deliberate targeting of often sick, injured and/or concerned family/friends of people the NHS as a public organisation (certainly not its brilliant staff as individuals) is supposed to serve

It is well known that the UHW Board were mightily peed off when they eventually (they were the last) had to end their parking charges and they deliberate signed a new contract with their parking operators when they knew 'free' parking was about to be announced by WAG

Bit of a lesson for all in as much that these 'approved' parking companies like Parking Eye (and others) have now stepped up their game with Case Law now seemingly on their side

For others to clarify, look at "Parking Eye versus Beavis", which although heavily criticised by industry experts, eventually went to The Supreme Court who found in Parking Eye's favour; opening the door for them and other similar companies to enforce their 'charges' legally and like never before :(

People tend to spend quite a while in the casino, probably no such thing as "too long" as far as they're concerned.

Sven unfortunately they dont consider many reasons for being in wrong place when parking so rarely dismiss fine even for staff courts refused to dismiss fines at uhw that staff got from parking eye... as for parking eye they are used to stop park and ride motorists from using hospital as a free car park and usually car sharing to reduce parking cost in city centre! lots hospitals are starting to use them to stop this practice.. my knowledge is extensive on lots things nhs I've got a permit to use at all hospitals in Wales and Bristol.

On match days just go into the casino entrance and enter your reg details on the terminal there. No need to go into the casino ;)

Probably pay this one.. I’ve gone to court before and won, but this seems in their favour unless you had an emergency or flat battery etc..
