Cardiff fans putting Pressure on Neil Warnock

Tue Oct 29, 2019 2:04 pm

Neil Warnock might have guided Cardiff City to an unlikely promotion before a respectable attempt to stay in the Premier League, but it seems fans are losing faith in the veteran manager.

Warnock hopes to retire at the end of the season with a ninth promotion on his CV, but a lacklustre defeat to arch rivals Swansea made it four wins from 14 games this term.

Now patience among fans appears to be wearing thin ahead of facing Birmingham City on Saturday afternoon.

Glen Williams of Media Wales says Warnock deserves time, but defeat to Pep Clotet's side would only heighten the pressure on the veteran Marmite manager.

"City, while admittedly not playing brilliant football, were just a couple of points off the play-offs a few weeks back, the world hasn’t tipped upside down in that time," Williams wrote.

"I certainly understand, however, where fans are coming from when they are calling for a change and can see why they have grown tired of not only the results but the style of play.

"Because fans will accept winning football, but they are far less lenient when not only the defeats but the frustrating draws pile up and that is compounded by a style of play that can often not be pleasing on the eye.

"It’s always the risk managers like Warnock have to take. Supporters might be ever-so-slightly more accepting of defeats and draws if the football is good. But that isn’t the case at the moment.

"For me, though, Warnock has a bit of latitude from me at present and has enough credit in the bank to continue as Cardiff City manager for the time being. But he, the fans and the players know that a string of wins must be put together very soon.

For me it's not the defeats but the manner of those defeats.

The club have to take some responsibility for the state we are in at the moment, we let a lot of players leave but what we replaced them with where sub standard.
If the club are saying they where all neils signings then perhaps they should have made more of an imput and insisted they wanted top quality players,
not with respect, 2 players from oxford, also who scouted out glatzel from the german 2nd division, the club imo where to frightened to spend money after the sala affair and been relegated ,
Tan choo and dalhman have to take some of the flack rather than just neil i thought they where all supposed to be together and we where going to do a burnley and go straight back to the prem.

I was upset with the performance Sunday, not the defeat but the manner of defeat. But Warnock saved our club and keep us up in his first year. Achieved a miracle in year two and almost again in 3. He’s lost the plot a little this year, we have been horrendous and something has to change. He has credit in the bank with me, if you asked me Sunday during the emotions I wasn’t so sure. He needs a reaction and quickly. Has to change it.

Is there any point getting rid of NW this season?

Let's face it we're not going up and unlikely to get relagated either. If we bring a new manager in he will only want money to spend in the January transfer window. No point giving NW money in the transfer window aswell.

I think the club need to start thinking of replacements now. Let him retire end of season and give him the respect he rightly deserves. Bring a new manger in who will hopefully bring a different style of football back to the club and clear out some players and kick on next season.

Cardiff fans are not putting the pressure on. Results, recruitment, tactics and selections and hugely underperforming players are the reason Sir Neil is under pressure.

I'd take Don Cowie now over most of what we currently have.
