Andre Ayew €22.8m
Borja Baston €18m
Sam Clucas €16.3m
Wilfried Bony €13m
Roque Mesa €12.5m
Renato Sanches €8.5m (loan)
Alfie Mawson €5.9m
Fernando Llorente €5.9m
Jordan Ayew €5.8m
Leroy Fer €5.6m
Tom Carroll €5.2m
Martin Olsson €4.6m
Luciano Narsingh €4.6m
Bersant Celina €3.4m
Mike Van der Hoorn €2.5m
Joel Osorio €2.3m
Declan John €890k
Barrie McKay €560k
Kristoffer Peterson €550k
Cian Harries €285k
Erwin Mulder free
Mark Birighitti free
Jan Dhanda free
Jake Bidwell free
Courtney Baker Richardson free
Tammy Abraham (loan)
Sam Surridge (loan)
Andy King (loan)
Freddie Woodman (loan)
Aldo Kalulu (loan)
Ben Wilmott (loan)

€138.2m total spend

€219.15m total received during that same time, which covered the previous seasons cumulative shortfall of €80m from the Jenkins era - that’s with us retaining Borja, Van der Hoorn, Carroll, Celina and Andre Ayew.

Since our promotion to the EPL to the present day - we have pretty much broken even on transfers in and out. Remarkable really considering it has essentially cost us nothing to achieve what we did (it costs teams who achieve nowhere near what we did tens of millions in surplus to even get close) and now have improved facilities and infrastructure off the back of it, not to mention a major trophy and memories that will last a lifetime.

Transfers in and out cost us nothing is what I said, they offset. You are talking about derivative spending or related costs.

Our television money paid for the wage bill in short.

For a club who have balanced the books so brilliantly what happens if they get situation they cant or dont have players to sell at massive profits? Club is constantly cost cutting story is status 1 academy next to go at end season replacing it with a lower category one... :old:

What point are you making here exactly?

Well the books would be balanced, you answered your own question.

I have no doubt that we will reduce academy investment should we continue to be a Championship club, category 1 academy status is an elite luxury.

I think he sees balancing the books now and in future should you remain in the championship (or lower) as two different things.

They aren’t. As he already points out, we would need to cut our cloth accordingly. The likes of Ayew and Borja will not be here next season should we not be promoted, our youth academy may be scaled back etc

This is what clubs have to do. Should you not go back up this season, you will also suffer cut backs and no question players will have to be moved on. That’s football.

Your incomings will fall year on year. What happens when you don’t have players you can sell?

We have a billionaire owner. You don’t.

Of course, as will our outgoings. That’s business.

We were running on an even keel last time we were at this level and got promoted doing so.

It wasn’t a fifth but it was much less than owed.

Far more than what our CVA was for that’s for sure.
