England's Euro 2020 qualifier against Bulgaria stopped twice after complaints of racist chanting



England's Euro 2022 qualifier against Bulgaria was stopped on two occasions following complaints of racist chanting in the stands.

The visiting coaching staff reported regular alleged monkey chants made towards England players during the first-half in Sofia.

Referee Ivan Bebek held discussions with England manager Gareth Southgate and captain Harry Kane before the first stoppage, which resulted in an announcement of the public address system.

Was a really difficult watch watching the black England players getting booed, having monkey chants directed at them, and seeing Nazi salutes. Would have liked to have seen the ref call the game off, award England the win, and fine Bulgaria and give the money to the English fans who made the journey, and kick Bulgaria out the competition too. No place for it, disgusting.

Didn't the Nazis view Slavs as subhuman? Must be brain-dead to do signs and hold flags of a group whose policy was to kill or enslave your people.

Should be banned from the next qualifiers as a example to others

And their manager said he didnt see or hear any racist chants or behaviour.

They should lose their place in the play offs. No level of sanctions taken to date have had any effect so they need to get tougher.

I agree with caerblue above. While not condoning the moronic chants the team had been saying in the papers all week that they would walk off. That was the way they would have made a massive statement. Now the game has been completed I fear there will be no further action by the powers that be. Walking off would have made a statement that could not have been ignored, but I suppose when your winning the game with such ease walking off would have been counter productive. Should have stuck by their principles to make the authorities take action.

I notice in the first picture. The three police with their heads turned also appear to be smirking! Not good at all.

Don't agree with this " throw them out of the tournament " as they can't qualify this time so BAN them from next World Cup and Euro tournaments. Shame for the players especially the captain.☹️
