‘ Callum Paterson? ‘

Callum Paterson?

My View Paterson has been over weight this season and needs to up his game, for me not still match fit.

The Scot is another who has had a mixed start to the season.

He took a heavy knock to the knee against Reading and has struggled for form ever since.

Paterson has often been deployed in the No.10 role, largely as a target man for Morrison and Flint's long balls, especially from home, but is yet to really flourish with the ball at his feet.

Barring a tremendous strike against QPR last week, he will have wanted to add more to his goals tally after a decent season in the Premier League.

But fans, and the manager, seem split between him and the mercurial Lee Tomlin in that position and it's clear to see that one of them needs to take hold of it by the scruff of the neck to make that spot their own.

I believe Paterson would be more suited to playing as a number 9. That is the position he was asked to play in the premership, and with specialist training could be our answer. Has the aggression needed for the role and should score the goals.

Can’t fault his passion and commitment but he’s been well off the pace since coming back from his injury. Seems he is in the side just to win headers and be a nuisance. The games I’ve seen him play he offers no linkup play between the midfield and striker.

I will always question the commitment of any player that reports back pre-season clearly overweight.

He didn’t have a preseason as he was injured. He is nowhere near match fit still though. Another reason why I don’t understand why he’s picked to start.

I think as much as he gives his all, we need to use our next few windows to strengthen the squad, and by that I mean getting solid positions and possibly finally saying goodbye to the likes of Tomlin/Patterson/Richards/Murphy if we can get some money for them. Patterson needs to go simply because if nobody knows where he plays, that’s not a good sign. Tomlin is playing well, but long term we can’t offer him another contract, surely, we need stability. Richards constantly injured and Murphy simply too inconsistent for his price tag. I personally think we need more people like Whyte, Flint & Peltier. Players who are consistent and you know exactly what they’re good at from the 1st game.

He is crap, he wins headers but he doesn’t direct them, put the ball to his feet and he’s useless. He can’t play as a 10 and offers nothing, the experiment with him hasn’t worked but he has passion and will run all day so is a Warnock type player.

In an ideal yes. We were not great when we were promoted. The manager should get Tomlin in the team and get Paterson upfront. Let's be honest the championship is the same as the last time we were promoted , way behind the premership. If warnock gets the team right we should be in the play offs.
