They won the game, the stats do not show a true representation of the game. The same can be said for the QPR game which we somehow happened to win.

We know Brom are a better side better players better manager even! but considering they are why are stats identical if they were that much better? or like I said are fans just looking at way teams play like you've done which is my point? We could possibly been 2 up before they scored plus had goal disallowed , i took a look at all our games with exception of qpr we were basically equal or better except possession with all the teams. Yet most of those games we've been poor according to fans? So even when we win we are lucky like qpr because we dont play attractive football ect ect the same football what got us promoted? It's really funny stats meant sfa yesterday like all other games ! so will we ever deserve a win playing our style of football because stats are meaningless? We certainly wont deserve a win with our style play as every team will play better football

Allan,
I am honestly not having a go at you but did you go to yesterday's game?
If you did I am sure that you would have seen the enormous gulf in class between the two sides. Yes if you just look at the bare statistics it seems like an even game which is a testament to the way we manage to create chances from so little but some of the "shots" referred to should really not be counted at all. Both Murphy and NML had "shots" that were closer to the top of the stand than the goals.
As I said in another thread, last season we were in the Premier League and West Brom were in the Championship. Our club has benefitted to the tune of over £100m more than West Brom have over last season and this. Their ground holds a similar amount of fans as ours (or less) and their support whilst very decent is hardly in the Leeds numbers.
We only just got relegated last season and they didn't get to the Play Off final yet if you'd seen the game yesterday you would surely agree that there was only one team who look likely to get promoted this season.

People saying we were outclassed ect ect yesterday whilst WBA were miles the better team I've seen this season are we being blinded by way other teams play compared to city? These stats if they were swapped around fans be saying great performance but as it is city fans look at performance rather than game as a whole! Yes they had chances but then so did we before they scored and during
game plus disallowed one at 2-0 , whilst I don't like way we play it did get us promoted, nearly every team is going to look good because of possession stats but Fulham 74% were lucky to get draw and qpr offered nothing considering possession they had, it's been similar story all season! We are not top two mainly because of very poor finishing and very poor defending rather than being poor which I accept we have been at times! So do we go by stats or performance to judge city bearing in mind same type football was
played when promoted..

Not entirely convinced WBA were the better team? Stroll on. They were superior in every department of the game.

I have no doubt that the result yesterday was a fair one but I'm not entirely convinced WBA were a better team, yes they had individuals who had good moments but better team. I wasn't at the Hawthorns but I bet if Glatzel had scored with that header and made it 2-1 the WBA fans would have been shitting themselves and as NW has said it probably would have changed the game in our favour. As it was we gifted them a 3rd and 4th goal through rank poor defending and the game was gone.
If you look beneath the top level stats of yesterdays match WBA for all their possession this only resulted in 27% of the action being in our defensive 3rd of the pitch, so where were the vast majority of their 584 passes madearound the halfway and in their defensive 3rd. It's stats like that which shows how difficult a team we can be to play against.
In terms of crosses despite our low possession stat we still manged mores crosses than WBA, 28 against 16, and in respect of attempts on goal we had 11% within the 6 yard box, WBA had 7%, we had 39% of our attempts from inside the penalty area WBA had 33%, we had 50% of attempts from outside the box WBA had 60%. Lets remember we were the away team and we out performed WBA in offensive terms in their Home fixture. Little wonder NW is pulling his hair out at the chances we are missing.
I think the teams we play have more respect for our style of play than our fans do and that's the classic trademark of a NW team, other teams will hate to play us. Currently we are huffing and puffing and are getting mixed results because of poor finishing, poor defending or a mixture of both but I really believe that will change and then watch us go.

Yes better team but explain why they had same stats as us except possession? As castle as explained where game was played that should give a clue why! And what you say like others confirms my point fans look at how opposition play compared to us and not stats?

We are one dimensional whilst WBA had players who were composed on the ball, even their defenders. The hardy chestnut of possession can be misrepresented. To switch the argument: are we saying that because the two teams had similar stats, possession apart, there was no difference in ability? WBA were light years ahead of us and far closer to having a team that is ready for the PL than City, even if we somehow clawed our way there this season.
