Our average attendance is currently higher than what yours was in your second season here after relegation. Which is the figure that is left after the glory hunters that bought a ST while still in the Premier League are no longer counted as they don’t renew (this thread such an example).

You averaged 16,400, ours is currently 16,500.

Consider that many Cardiff stayed away due to growing dissatisfaction with a terrible rebrand idea.

You were already back in blue. The season after you averaged much the same, 100 more.

Not buying that excuse.

The rebrand still has an effect on attendances.

Re: 2 season tickets for sale

Tue Oct 08, 2019 12:43 pm

Nah not buying it. At the time you had your largest attendances for decades while in red.

There is a clear correlation between success (or lack of) and attendances. Your attendances dipped when you got relegated and improved when you were challenging, not because people had decided to suddenly be offended by the rebrand (2+ years AFTER it was implemented) and suddenly improved as people miraculously got over the re-brand. :D

Come on now Ely, even you aren’t going to try and pass that off as pure coincidence are you?

I doubt next season you will average much over 17,000, if that. No doubt you will be telling me that people suddenly have PST about the rebrand or something and relapsed into a state where they no longer come. The fact you didn’t get promotion is just an after thought of course....

Good research mate fair play.
I was talking about NOW though. The fact that you’re not getting crowds as good as us atm.
In the 60s we were getting 60,000 crowds, like I said I was talking about the present time.

The rebrand caused a massive divide between fans and resentment towards the owner of the club. That was not resolved suddenly when we changed back to blue. There are still people who have not returned even with the change back. The football under slade and Trollop was also dire. They contributed to a low crowds in addition to not challenging for promotion.

As petty as you sound, your figures are wrong anyway. We averaged 16,433 in our second season and your current average is 16,333. So even after suffering relegation, still feeling the effects of the rebrand, enduring shit football and finishing mid-table, our attendances were still higher then than yours are now even though you have been top 2 for most of the season. Congratulations. :D

I am not even sure what your point is anyway. All teams attendances fluctuate with league success. Like ours did, swansea's average attendance dropped last season following relegation and has dropped again this season. No doubt it will drop again if you don't get promoted this season. It happens at all clubs.

We aren’t getting the same crowds now because we don’t have the false number that is represented by PL season ticket sales. That only happens the season after relegation. Only after that can you get the true attendance.

As I said, very recently when that last happened - you averaged slightly less than us.

Also your highest attendance in the 60’s was 24,183 in 1960... not 60,000.

Yeah I’m not buying that as I said. The drop off was due to relegation nothing else, to suggest it was down to the rebrand is whitewashing history.

- Your first season in red saw you get an average attendance that was the highest in 60 years.

- Your second season in red saw you get an average attendance was the highest in 61 years.

- Each year you were in red broke your own attendance record in living memory...

But you expect me and others to believe that everyone had enough of it at the same point a couple of years after it happened, when it coincidentally coincided with you being relegated? Then people decided to get over it, coincidentally, the season you were promoted again? :D

I don’t sound petty at all. I wasn’t the one to bring up attendances. But now they are brought up I am happy to look at the facts, and this is the presentation of those facts. 16,509 is our average attendance at the top of Google when you type it in, if you believe that is off by 150 then happy to use your numbers for the purpose of this, my point remains the same - this withe the fresh American takeover too :D

Well, what do you think Swansea attendances will do,if not promoted this year? 13/15,000 at the very best  you really shouldn't make references about a club, whose attendances are larger than your own,now and historically :laughing5: what was the highest gate at the vetch again,a piss poor 32,000 or so,compared to our 60,000 :?: you may have been top 2 for most of the season, but your support has been average at best, yet you come on here,in reference to the topic, making ludicrous suggestion that "it's begun"what's "it" you are referring to? The fact that 2 season tickets are for sale,or your sides slip from that incredibly high pedestal you put them, and yourself on? We can afford another couple of thousand "leavers" and still would have higher attendances than you :laughing6: :old: :bluebird:

I said attendances fluctuate depending on league success? It happens at every club. Obviously attendances dropped because we were relegated. How many teams attendances increase after a relegation? Relegation wasn’t the only reason though. I don’t care what you want to believe, the rebrand stopped many people going down. Some returned and some never have. I know this because I was there and experienced it. After the rebrand and relegation, attendances were the lowest they’ve been in 10 years. That is not a coincidence either. The ‘plastics’ left after relegation and so did many fans because of the rebrand. It wasn’t the only reason but it definitely was a contributing factor. As was the shit football we had to watch under OGS, slade and Trollop for almost 3 years.

You couldn’t sound anymore petty if you tried, you compared scenarios and took a difference in attendance of around 100odd people as some sort of victory over the club. Very petty, You really need to get that chip off your shoulder. It turns out your figures were wrong anyway and your attendance is still actually lower despite being in much better position than we were in.
I’m pretty sure you argued in the another thread that the Americans haven't/aren't doing anything wrong. Why would that have any influence on attendances?
