Neil Warnock vented his frustration at his side's lack of cutting edge after Cardiff City fell to a heavy defeat at West Brom.



NEIL WARNOCK:

"It would have been easier to score than miss the header," Warnock said, "but he is trying."

The Bluebirds are still yet to win away from home this season, and a result in the Midlands would have been massive, but Warnock has a theory as to why that is the case.


"Possibly because we can't hit a barn door at times!" he said.

"You don't get better chances than Glatzel's header, do you? I can't put them in from the bench.

"And goals change games, they give everyone a lift, as you saw today. If that one would have gone in, you would have seen a different West Brom at 2-1."



Warnock bemoaned the officials' decisions at times, referencing Glatzel's offside goal which he feels was wrongly adjudged due to Sean Morrison being the offender, and thought his side were hard done by despite shipping four goals.

Warnock conceded that the hosts had a patch of the game in the first half which was 'the best they've played against this season', but his side showed some resolve to come back strongly after the break.

The manager's job now is to ensure that, after gaining such momentum before the West Brom clash, the bubble doesn't burst over the international break.


"I think there are a lot of plusses, if we were doing half-term or third-term reports," he said.

"I don't think people will want to play against us. We could improve our goal scoring and defend better, but we've got the ingredients to put it right.

"We've just got to work hard on the training ground."

Glatzel is running out of chances to start scoring. One goal from open play in ten games is not good enough.

We need to get to January within seven points of top place to stand a chance. We can then strengthen the squad with a decent right back , attacking midfielder and a striker to push us towards the play-offs.

Now where have I heard that before ?

Unfortunately if you spend 5 million on a striker who has never played higher than the 2nd division in Germany, you will have to give him time.
It may be next season before we see any improvement.
He does need a rest though.

Could be right fred but can anyone else say we've had a forward succeed with NW tactics? Unfortunately his misses are highlighted because tends to be taken in isolation! for 90% of game he us fighting 2 defenders with no support? I've said yes give ward chance but he will never do what glatzel does or Ken or any of past strikers, so NW needs to change tactics but then if do that why not do that for glatzel to help him?

Let's play with 2 strikers and double our chances then!

In his time as our manager, it appears to have become a trend for Warnock to sh*t on strikers missing opportunities, when he personally has us play in a way that doesn’t at all play to the actual strength of said strikers.

Same old same old, easier to blame someone else rather than himself !!!

Need take look at other players missing chances yesterday at least 3 In 1st 15 mins we had good shooting opportunities but blasted high and wide under no pressure! Been same in most games this season.. and most fans see that our tactics are not compatible with giving forwards service they need to operate in! Yes glatzel missed chances but so did others but easy to blame striker and not tactics.

Rather than criticise and slam him perhaps the manager should change the style and play Tomlin and get the wingers crossing the ball more from the byline and maybe we’d see him slot home more.

And get the players to at least trouble the keeper when shooting outside the box

I would play Bogle and Ward if we were switching to two up front and play Tomlin behind them in a 4312 formation. Give tomlin a free role to just roam around the midfield

That would be my tactic too. In our promotion season our wingers were scoring plenty which meant the lack of goals from Zohore did not matter so much. This season I think Mendez-Laing Hoilett and Whyte have scored on between them. I would play one winger and Glatzel and Ward together paticularly at home.

I think NW has forgotten that we don’t make many chances for the strikers to miss.....strikers he has brought in and consistently failed.
Teams know we will just lump it forward...
