Sold out the away end for Cardiff fans :bluebird:

Team News :bluebird:

The Bluebirds' injury woes have quietly subsided, with Sol Bamba and Isaac Vassell the only definite absentees for the trip to the Midlands this weekend.

Joe Ralls missed the midweek win over QPR and Neil Warnock revealed the midfielder is touch and go as to whether he will be available for today's clash.

Warnock started Tomlin against QPR, but it seems highly unlikely he will select the playmaker in such an important clash away from home.

If Ralls is anywhere near fully fit, Warnock will start him in a flat midfield three alongside Leandro Bacuna and Marlon Pack.

The defence picks itself, but the wing berths are the only other contentious areas.

Gavin Whyte is almost nailed on to start, but the manager could well opt for Junior Hoilett in place of Josh Murphy on the left, flanking Robert Glatzel through the middle.

About West Brom

West Bromwich Albion Football Club is a professional football club in West Bromwich, West Midlands, England. They currently play in the Championship, the second tier of English football. The club was formed in 1878 and has played at its home ground, The Hawthorns, since 1900.

Albion were one of the founding members of the Football League in 1888, the first professional football league in the world, and have spent the majority of their existence in the top tier of English football. They have been champions of England once, in 1919–20, and have been runners-up twice. Albion have reached ten FA Cup finals, winning on five occasions. The first win came in 1888, the year the league was founded, and the most recent in 1968, their last major trophy. They also won the Football League Cup at the first attempt in 1966. The club's longest continuous period in the top division spanned 24 years between 1949 and 1973, and from 1986 to 2002 they spent their longest ever spell out of the top division.

The team has played in navy blue and white stripes for most of the club's history; and the club badge features a throstle perched on a hawthorn branch. Albion have a number of long-standing rivalries with other West Midlands clubs; their traditional rivals being Aston Villa and Wolverhampton Wanderers. Albion contest the Black Country Derby with the latter.

I've gone for a draw, but it's going to be tough up there, anything more, of course I'll be well chuffed.they are on a high, have started the season well,we will have to be solid defensively or we could take a beating (not wishing that of course)on the other hand,we too are on a run of our own,7 games unbeaten, let's hope we have a little more possession, not like last night :o unless the result is the same of course :thumbright: but in my opinion,QPR played into our hands by playing an attack minded game.more of the same please boys :bluebird: :bluebird: :bluebird:

Difficult result to predict, could argue a case for all 3 possible results.
Win-Could be a typical Warnockesque smash and grab win.
Lose-Outplayed and eventually concede a few.
Draw-Be solid at the back and rarely put any pressure on them.
So prediction time....I will go for a hard earned victory with a 2-1 win.

WBA 2-0 Cardiff city. Been positive about the last 5 results but I think this will be a very difficult game. Wouldn't surprise me though if we got a point but just feel WBA's quality will be too much.

Thoughts on WBA?

NEIL WARNOCK:

I always thought they might be the team this season. Leeds have got the names and spent a lot more money but West Brom and Fulham have spent big amounts of money, too. One of those three will eventually win the league and everything else is up for grabs.

I always enjoy going there, it’s a good pitch and had one or two really good games there. I’m sure the crowd and the atmosphere will be good for away fans. Hopefully it will be raining and blowing a gale.

NEIL WARNOCK:

Joe Ralls?

"He’s getting better. It’s only three days and we’ve got two weeks off. If I feel the same speaking to him today, I would tell him no. I would advise him against that if we have a fortnight before the next game."

I actually think west broms style will bring the best out in us.
They are not massively different to us, they play a lot of long balls into Austin and break with pace in midfield through Sawyers.

This could be a high scoring game.

But I think they will just take it at home.

3-2 to them or a 3-3 draw .

Flint's attempted scissor kick is blocked. The following City corner is cleared to Bacuna on the edge of the box, but he fires wide. (0-0)

0-0 is my prediction for this one.

Paterson with the long throw-in and it is cleared, but Whyte dinks it back in, Morrison wins the header and it drops to Flint, but his shot is deflected for a corner.

The ball in is also deflected out to Bacuna on the edge, but his thumping volley is miles wide.

Some lovely interplay here from Cardiff. Bennett to Hoilett, who plays a lovely square ball into Bacuna. Bacuna then breaks and pulls it back to Hoilett, but he skews his shot miles wide.

West Brom finally manage to break into the Cardiff half for a meaningful attack. They build up nicely before laying the ball to Charlie Austin’s feet. The striker looks to shoot, but Morrison gets in the way. The corner is cleared.

West Brom just getting a foothold here and showing just what they are capable of. Not come to anything just yet, but they are a definite threat, as we already knew.

WHAT A SAVE! A pinpoint ball is whipped across the face of goal and Charlie Austin gets a toe on it from just six yards out, but Smithies denies him! He makes himself big and gets a leg to it. That is an astonishing save.

WBA 1-0

What a shame for Smithies. He hardly had time to breathe before that goal flew past him. The Baggies came back straight away and a lovely lay-off to Matheus Pereira precedes a superb, bending effort past Smithies. Great finish from the winger.

Some brilliant wing play from Diangana sees him drive into the box, before pulling it back to Pereira again. The Baggies man unleashes another dangerous shot on goal and Smithies has to get down smartly to his right to tip it wide!
