Joe Ledley is with Cardiff City, But is only training with Cardiff after failing to find a club.


Ledley is a Free Agent and asked Warnock if he could train with City this week.

The former Bluebirds midfielder has been without a club since he left Derby County last season, Ledleys Agent has put His name around to numerous clubs but so far no clubs have offered any contracts.




Joe Ledley is currently training with Neil Warnock's first-team squad,

The midfielder, who has played 252 times for the Bluebirds, has been without a club since he left Derby County back in January.

It is understood that Ledley, now a free agent, asked City boss Warnock if he could train with the first team to ensure his fitness standards are maintained while he looks for a new club.

Cardiff, however, are not thought to be interested in signing the midfielder and view it as a means to help a player who has given so much to the club over many years.

Warnock knows Ledley well from his time in charge of Crystal Palace and speaks very highly of him.

"I think Joe has been mentioned a few times over the last couple of years," Warnock said back in August when asked about Ledley's mooted return.

"I think Joe is a super guy, really did well for me at Crystal Palace, but I've not made any enquiries for Joe at the minute."

Ledley, 32, has been linked with a number of clubs in the last few months, but moves never materialised.

At the beginning of the summer, it emerged he was closing in on a surprise transfer to Dutch side Fortuna Sittard .

The player had a tour of the stadium and was thought to be very interested in the move. He was even keen on taking his first steps into starting a coaching career there.

But the move hit complications, which reportedly included his salary expectations, and a deal hit the buffers.

A switch to Cyrpus was next on the cards. Ledley trained with Cypriot side Pafos FC back in August before playing in a friendly for them against local side Anorthosis.



However he left once again without a move having been sealed and was back to square one.

While many fans dream of Ledley returning to his boyhood club, Cardiff are incredibly-well stocked in that department and, at present, a deal is not on the table.

I dont see any room for him in our squad unfortunately.

It would be more money wasted by the club even on basic pay as you play. If he played.

Not good enough and wouldn't play enough to get match fit, we would have to have a lot of injuries for him to be considered. Can't see him taking a pay as you play deal for that reason.

The article says 'many fans dream of him returning' - I think it would be a nightmare for most fans!! ( He is too slow to catch a cold ).

He has made more appearances and scored more goals for us than anyone else that came out of our Academy in recent times and yet because the club wouldn’t make him one of our top earners he went elsewhere for more money some supporters won’t forgive him? I wonder how many of them would stay put and refuse an offer of doubling their wages? Welcome home Joe, hope you impress the gaffer, it’s time we had a local boy in the team!

Didn’t he run his contract down when we could have really done with a few million? Holding out for a move to the premier league which never came off anyway? Only Celtic came in, a sideways move if ever there was one....

Ramsey didn’t run his contract down, joe did knowing he’d get a bigger pay and the club wouldn’t...that’s what annoys some fans. I couldn’t care less, he gave us a day never to forget in the fa cup semi....

I have have got to give it to Ledley. He has some front asking to train with us given the circumstances when he left. i will never forget how he brushed aside reporters at Cardiff Airport on his way to Glasgow.

Crazy to think hes only 32, his legs really went a couple of years ago at only 30 years old. Peaked young. Shame he spent his youth in Scotland.
