Marlon Pack

Sunday 29th September 2019

By Paul Abdanatto

Cardiff's summer capture from Bristol City has had a frustrating time thus far during his Bluebirds career, an impressive debut versus Luton followed by a hamstring injury after just 23 minutes against Reading.

When Pack went off, Cardiff capitulated - and he hadn't been seen again until Saturday's 2-2 draw at Hull.

It is an indicator of how highly Warnock values Pack that as soon as he was declared fit, he was shoehorned straight back into the starting XI at Hull.

The intention was to give him 60 minutes. Instead, he stayed on for the duration.

"We're a better side with Marlon in it," says Warnock. "He makes us play more, it's nice to keep that ball and recycle it. He makes us different."

Take it as read, then, that Pack starts again against QPR, and then in Saturday's humdinger of a clash against high-fliers West Brom at The Hawthorns.

With size, stature, composure and an ability to do the simple things well, he could be the midfield controller and enforcer in one Cardiff have often lacked during the Warnock reign.

A great pass from Pack and work from Bacuna for the Glatzel goal. If Pack wasn't playing would anyone else have executed or even attempted that pass? probably not.

I think we are a couple of wingers hitting form off pushing up the league now.

Again was brilliant against Hull. One of the few players in our team that picks a pass in tight positions instead of hoofing it away, and some of his cross field passes were beautiful. Brings a calmness and composure to our midfield, and strange that as soon as he comes back in the team we end up having 52% possession.

Agreed

He's one of those players who seems to make others around him play better too. He's going to be really important to us this season I think.

I still can't believe Bristol City let him go, they must have a hell of a midfield if they've got better players than him in there !!
