Derby County footballers Tom Lawrence and Mason Bennett have both been charged with drink driving.

And I’ve also heard their recordings.


For me they are an utter disgrace the minute they drive their cars on public roads.

They'll appear at Southern Derbyshire Magistrates Court on Tuesday 15th October.

Looking at them screens hot captions,some prick quotes "don't speed if you have been drinking" what a moronic thing to say don't know about drugged up,as surely they would have been charged with drug driving as well as drink driving They all will get what they deserve,and rightly so,drink/drug driving kills many,many innocent people,and the law should make examples of them,I read yesterday that keogh says it was all his fault as club captain,he should have stopped both of them from driving in the 1st place, especially as derby had laid on transport for Al, to use have 0 sympathy for any of them,cannot see the club sticking by them either, I'm just glad no innocent people were hurt,due to the decisions made by three morons

I certainly don't class getting drunk and driving as a mistake, more arrogance. Its never even crossed my mind to get in a car after drinking and I'm not sure why anyone would think its acceptable.

The "ordinary" man in the street would get a custodial sentence for this. Don't see why it would be different for these guys.

Cars will soon be fitted with scanners to test whether drivers are over the limit or not.

They should all be banned from driving, prison is a bit harsh in this instance as nobody was hurt but they should have hefty community sentences handed down on them.
A big fine and 1000 hours unpaid community work would certainly hurt them.

No not equally as idiotic alcohol is literally an intoxicating poison that you have chosen to consume and then think it’s okay to drive. Selfish disgusting behaviour from anybody who does it and they fully deserve to never have the privilege of driving again.

Using the phone is also idiotic and should be treated similarly.

Speeding is a bit different as the limit are variable and their are occasions where you may be caught going slightly over the limit without causing any danger to anybody( it also makes a lot of money hence why we have so many speed cameras about). If however your speeding results in an accident of course you should be banned and if it’s deemed you were so reckless that you can’t be trusted to drive again then yes you should have your license removed for life.

In summary alcohol consumption before driving is a much more serious and selfish offence than being caught going slightly over the speed limit.

I stand by what I say,all involved feeling they are above the law? It is crazy to say they made a" mistake" and before you have a go,my best friend of 50+ years was a hit and run victim,to a drug & drink driver,and now the poor man is in a permanent care home,requiring 24hr care for the rest of his days the driver who was found guilty, received a minimum term of 8 years,but will only be in his late 30's when released,with all his life before him,my poor friend not so,only a muppet would consider it ok ,to get behind the wheel of a two tonne vehicle,and to drive,you seem pretty relaxed at this idiotic action I stand by my words,I hope they throw the book at them sentence wise,and most people in normal life,coul well ,lose their employment over such incidents, they are looked up to,by the fans of the club,and they have let them down badly,to say the least.the CAPTAIN as well ffs
