NEIL WARNOCK MAKES BIG CLAIM ABOUT TWO PLAYERS AT HULL CITY AHEAD OF CLASH
By Toby Wilding

Saturday 28th September 2019

Cardiff City manager Neil Warnock has claimed that Hull City’s Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki are the best two wingers currently plying their trade in the Championship.

Warnock’s Bluebirds are set to go up against the duo when they travel to the KCOM Stadium on Saturday afternoon, and it appears as though the Cardiff boss is under no illusions as to the challenge his side will face.

The Welsh-based club were reportedly interested in signing Grosicki during the January transfer window, and Warnock believes that his side are not the only ones who would jump at the chance to recruit the pair.

Speaking about the Hull duo in his press-conference ahead of Saturday afternoon’s clash, Warnock was quoted by The Hull Daily Mail, via Wales Online, as saying: “They’re (Bowen and Grosicki) probably the best two widemen in the league.

“Most would want those two if they could afford them. And they’ve got midfield players who can score.”

So far this season, Bowen has four goals and provided one assist in Hull’s eight league games, while Grosicki has three goals and an assist to his name from the opening stages of the campaign.

Cardiff and Hull go into Saturday’s clash 13th and 14th in the Championship standings respectively, although Warnock’s side are three points better off than their hosts at this point in the season.

The Verdict

This is an interesting one.

Bowen and Grosicki are undoubtedly two very good players, especially at this level, and I don’t dispute that there would be a number of clubs who would happily take the pair in their squads if they could afford them.

I do however wonder whether the pair actually are the best two wide players in the division as Warnock says, given the quality of other players in that position at this level.

Indeed, you feel the likes of Pablo Hernandez, Anthony Knockaert and Joe Lolley would be just some of the few players in that role in the Championship who may have something to say about Warnock’s claims here.

Always a good move to install confidence in opponents players the day of a big game whilst at the same time dropping the moral of you're own wingers.

I'm sure Murphy, Mendez, hoilett and Whyte love those comments

I'm pretty sure that's not what Neil Warnock is saying on the training ground or in the changing room and he is sure to be 'beefing up' two in order to get his own men (a) at the back, and (b) on the wings, to put in a performance

City realistically need 3 points today but a draw would suffice on what is always a tough place to go :ayatollah:

He’s forgotten more than you’ll ever know about instilling confidence.

Yeah, I really don't see any point of bigging up their players just before playing them. I can't think of one reason how it helps us, not one.

He is becoming more of a liability with every passing weekend and news conference.

Shoe on other foot, I'm sure we would benefit from opposition manager saying Bogle or Vassel best in division.

I tend to agree, it's becoming a joke, i get it the season we went up as we were underdogs and even more so the premier league season, trying to put pressure on them (not that it works)

But playing the underdog now is daft, he has spent huge money to build this squad, more than most other championships teams, we should not be playing the underdogs and instead taking games to teams.
