The greatest compliment you can pay Bennett is that since signing him, left-back is not a position that Cardiff have had to worry about ever since. He has been a real gem.
Bennett is reminiscent of Andrew Taylor, who Malky Mackay brought in as a free agent in 2011 and quickly became instrumental in the same position. Bennett represents an upgrade though, a Taylor 2.0 if you will.
He’s a bit quicker and a silkier, a bit better going forward and better defending Not a Neil Warnock-type player by any means, but he clearly thinks the world of Bennett and it’s easy to see why because he’s never let him down.

When he was signed my mate, a Villa fan, said that of their three left-backs he was the best.

I remember when Joe Bennett signed the club thought they had pulled off a masterstroke. Back then there wasn't a lot of faith in the clubs transfer policy but fair play they have been proved right
