Why all the injuries?

"Leeds have kept the squad and increased it. Fulham have loaned players with a guaranteed buyout. West Brom too. Those three have set the stall out, but I don’t see anyone running away with it."

I’ve had worse starts. It’s not been a bad start really, but we had a couple of bad games. I’m going to have different problems now, who to leave out etc. We want a full squad to choose from, apart from Isaac Vassell. I thought Wardy did all right when he came on too."

"Another session this morning. One or two lads like Marlon Pack and Sol (Bamba) have trained this week. Not sure they’ll come into it. Marlon is a bit further in front than sol, he said he felt good yesterday, his first competitive session. A couple of knocks, that’s all."

He trained on Monday, he didn’t do a full session. They said he was in a bit of a state on Saturday morning. One of those 48-hour things. Bogle did well and that’s a decision I’ve got to make in the next couple of hours.

I didn’t realise that. We are three points behind play-offs and five behind the leaders and we know how close the league is. We’d like to be pushing towards that top end of the table and the play-offs.

They are a difficult side to play against really, and you can only play what’s been put in front of you. We played some good stuff at times. But you get criticised whatever you do, it would be nice to see more goals from more areas.

"It’s nice to go on runs, especially long runs. We could do with that. We are playing Hull now and they’ve got a good spell going at the moment. They have dangerous players. We’ve just got to try and get a result. It’s possible to do a run both ways, win or lose, that is the Championship."

Cardiff City forward Isaac Vassell has been ruled out for six to eight weeks with a thigh injury.
The 26-year-old, signed from Birmingham in August, has played three games this season and scored once.
"I'm really disappointed for Isaac, who'd been training ever so well with us these past few weeks," Cardiff manager Neil Warnock said.
"It's a setback, but up to him to put the work into his rehabilitation now and come back to the group stronger."

Finishing practice?

"Finishing, I don’t think you can coach finishing. But you can improve it with practice. That’s what we’ve been doing. And set pieces, which we have been better at in recent weeks. It would be nice for Robert to score on his next game back, similarly it would have been nice from Omar. To get those lifts."

"In Sol’s case, we expected him to be nine months and it’s just about seven now. In his case, he does need a competitive game before he comes in. He is joining in training, but it’s just a bit different when you’re playing against opposition."
"We’re not rushing him, because the longer he goes, the stronger he becomes. I think if we had injury problems we might put him back, but we want to be 100 per cent that he’s OK. And Marlon has trained this week with the first team and we tried to it properly, because you do tend to want to rush people back and then you regret it. So we’ve got to try to eliminate the recurrence of that."

Are Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Tomlin available and fully fit?
