Are Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Tomlin available and fully fit?

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Yeah, they are both fully fit, they are in the squad. Did you see Tomlin’s toe poke (in Twitter video), he loves doing that! It does catch the goalie out, because they are waiting for a backlift and he just toe pokes it. I kill myself laughing when I see that. "

Team news:

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Another session this morning. One or two lads like Marlon Pack and Sol (Bamba) have trained this week. Not sure they’ll come into it. Marlon is a bit further in front than sol, he said he felt good yesterday, his first competitive session. A couple of knocks, that’s all."

Glatzel

NEIL WARNOCK:

He trained on Monday, he didn’t do a full session. They said he was in a bit of a state on Saturday morning. One of those 48-hour things. Bogle did well and that’s a decision I’ve got to make in the next couple of hours.

The Bluebirds have a number of key players returning to full fitness in the coming month.

MARLON PACK & SOL BAMBA

Key Cardiff City duo Marlon Pack and Sol Bamba will both take part in full training this week as they edge closer to full fitness.

Bamba, who has been out since undergoing surgery on his knee back in March, has been champing at the bit to get back into the fray and is two months ahead of schedule.

Pack, meanwhile, has largely been consigned to the gym until now, but the midfielder will take part in full training this week after responding well to rehabilitation.

It is understood the pair will train with the first team tomorrow, with the club opting not to utilise the Under-23s' game against Coventry as a means to ramp up their return to full match fitness.

City, however, are planning on a full contact, inter-club game at their Vale of Glamorgan HQ tomorrow in order to obtain a better assessment of their returning stars' fitness situation.

It is unlikely, however, manager Neil Warnock will throw them both into the squad for the visit to Hull City this weekend, especially without a game for the Under-23s under their belts.

Cardiff are finalising the details of a game against West Wales side Llanelli, which looks the most likely opportunity for one of, if not both, Bamba or Pack to make their return to the playing arena.

ROBERT GLATZEL

Robert Glatzel, who missed Saturday's win over Middlesbrough, is still absent from training with his illness. We understand he might not be able to train until Thursday, which once again puts his place in the side for the trip to Hull in jeapordy.

Josh Murphy, who Warnock revealed was taken off at half time against Boro owing to a bout of sickness and diarrhoea, did not train today, either. However it is understood his illness is not as severe as Glatzel's and he could return tomorrow.

JAZZ RICHARDS

Elsewhere, Jazz Richards will undergo a full week of rehab on an ankle he damaged in training during a collision with Aden Flint. The club are hopeful he will be back in full training before the international break October.

Hull City information for all supporters

Hull City and the SMC wish to inform Cardiff City supporters who may be travelling by car to the away fixture against the Tigers on Saturday 28th September 2019 that the Walton Street car park adjacent to the KCOM Stadium will be closed to vehicles and pedestrians.

Preparations for Hull Fair 2019 mean access to the car park is STRICTLY prohibited in the interest of public safety. There are alternative pedestrian routes into the KCOM Stadium via the West Park gates on Walton Street (next to the Tigers Trust Arena), the pathway from Anlaby Road and the pedestrian footbridges from Londesborough Street.

Supporters travelling by car are advised to consider alternative means of transport including official club coaches or rail travel. If supporters still intend to travel by car, alternative car parking options include the Stagecoach Park & Ride service from Priory Park, which operates a direct service to and from the stadium on matchdays, and other public transport options or city centre parking. Further information regarding city centre car parking and public transport can be found by visiting the Hull City Council website: www.hull.gov.uk/parking-and-transport
Fans are advised to allow extra time for their journey.

Hull City have a sketchy home record this season — one win, two defeats and a draw — and have shipped five goals in their last two outings at the KCOM Stadium.

Cardiff will naturally be wary of the great threat the Tigers pose on the attack, with Jarrod Bowen and Kamil Grosicki always ready to pounce.

They have seven goals between them this season, just two fewer than Cardiff have netted altogether, and will represent arguably the toughest test of the season for Sean Morrison, Aden Flint and Co.

But maybe throwing a little caution to the wind could provide the catalyst to really kick-start this campaign.

Gavin Whyte and Josh Murphy played superbly last weekend, while Robert Glatzel is likely to return to the starting lineup after bagging his first goal in his last outing. Both Nathaniel Mendez-Laing and Lee Tomlin are both fully fit and available for selection, too.

Leandro Bacuna has bossed the midfield the last few weeks and has also broken away with pace, Ralls is still popping up in dangerous areas and Joe Bennett was back to his overlapping best against Boro.

Anything at all from this game will be good as far as I am concerned. I remember many years back when we scored 11 goals in two consecutive home league games against Hull (6-0 & 5-1), but one would do today as long as it gives us a win or a draw. Would take a point right now.

Steve, for me if we are looking for promotions, must be looking at 3pts, or at least a draw. :bluebird:

@jnrhoilett's corner is headed inches wide by Glatzel.

So close to an opener for the Bluebirds

Cardiff corner

Whyte gets the better of Fleming to win a free-kick which gets headed out for a corner. Good noise from the travelling fans to my left. Sean Morrison gets on the end of the set-piece, which he heads wide.

A whole lot of nothing going on so far in this one, a lot of direct football played by both teams, with both unable to create much from it. Cardiff the better of the two so far.

Off the bar!

Junior Hoilett crashes a half volley off the bar at the end of a long throw by Sean Morrison. A great opportunity for Cardiff. Moments later, Aden Flint almost steers a cross in, but can’t quite get the final touch.

Let off for the hosts

A couple of moments of miss-communication sees George Long forced to throw as he, Eric Lichaj and Jordy de Wijs fail to clear.

Re: MATCH THREAD " HULL CITY v CARDIFF CITY " MATCH THREAD

Sat Sep 28, 2019 2:23 pm

Another long throw

Cardiff are an incredibly physical side, make no bones about it, similar to Millwall a few weeks ago that Tigers held. Bowen does well to win a corner at the end of George Long’s goal kick.

Re: MATCH THREAD " HULL CITY v CARDIFF CITY " MATCH THREAD

Sat Sep 28, 2019 2:25 pm

Stewart booked

Cardiff go on the counter, Whyte pokes the ball through his legs and Stewart brings him down with a sliding challenge, warranting him the first booking of the game.

The majority of the play was in the Hull City half.

Hull are a poor team done nothing.

Smithiie had nothing to do other than accept back passes.

Only thing missing from Cardiff is a goal.
