From where I was sitting I thought he was excellent. Won so many headers and generally was a menace.

Where were you sat, out your garden?

I actually thought he was a total embarrassment and once again did nothing. Tomlin and Vaulkes must be furious being left out for him at the moment.

Hello Mrs Paterson

Re: Paterson

Why on earth Tomlin didn't come on in his place for last twenty or so is beyond me.

Boro were there for the taking but without a second goal it was not comfortable. Boro were woeful but we only had two shots on target.

Why sign Vessell is beyond me as cover for any of our strikers Paterson is Sir Neils trusted go to.

Re: Paterson

Wow really?? I thought he was shocking yet again.

Re: Paterson

Sat Sep 21, 2019 6:27 pm

Tomlin should have come on when the game was stretched. He would have destroyed them. Instead we persist with this lummox.

Re: Paterson

Sat Sep 21, 2019 6:59 pm

He was poor today seems his only role is to try and win headers. Tomlin should be ahead of him.

Re: Paterson

Sat Sep 21, 2019 7:32 pm

Said earlier what does NW see that us fans don't? We all say same so are we wrong that much? And what benefit to team does NW see in him that we cannot see even though we watch same game as NW!

Re: Paterson

We have the players to play much better football but Patterson is part of the problem. He is a battering ram, the easy long ball option for players.

Can anyone really tell me we wouldn't play better football and crest more with Tomlin.

Patterson is one of those players/ characters that I would absolutely love to see play well. Sadly as everyone has posted, I don't think he contributed at all today and personally I think that we'll be a better attacking threat going forward with an alternative option?

Are you Mr Warnock :laughing6:

Re: Paterson

Sat Sep 21, 2019 8:46 pm

Warnock is too negative to put a skilful, talented player on when we are winning 1-0.
Instead of going for the second goal to kill them off he keeps the safe option on in Paterson.
That’s Warnock in a nutshell.

I don't see that as an issue really, sensible to keep it tight. We won.
My question would be more why no start with someone who can help us get goals from the off.

I agree, I’m just putting over the way Warnock works most of the time.

Its like playing with 10 men I thought for 80 minutes

Re: Paterson

Did he get the ball at his feet or even make a pass ? I pretty sure he did but just can’t remember him doing either

Re: Paterson

He’s played just to win headers. When he starts you know everything is going long to him. Tomlin should be starting every game in that position with his quality. If not Tomlin I’d be more inclined to play ward there. He works hard, decent in the air but he’s much better with the ball at his feet compared to Patterson. Patterson would probably be better off used if we are chasing a game and need to go direct.

Whilst I think your analyses is a little OTT, I don't quite understand this anti- Patterson that seems to be growing on this Forum. He can be a nuisance to play against, wins headers and is always likely to get a goal whether it comes off his head, backside etc. Warnock knows this but the problem is he doesn't quite know where to play him.

Well cannot play him upfront as spent millions on players to play there! Hes a right back at international level but got better players there! Only play in midfield but realistically hes not type player we need unless want someone being s nuisance but with no end product apart from winning occasional header... :old:

We got some very short memories on this forum. Not quite sure but wasn't he our top scorer the year we went up despite not playing til about November and playing mainly in midfield?

Yes...but his current form is awful. Big player for us in our promotion season but he looks like he's overweight, he missed a proper pre season due to injury and offers very little apart from a couple of flicked on headers. Needs to be dropped until he's much fitter.

Re: Paterson

I’m struggling to think of anything positive about his contribution. He won a couple of headers but overall pretty disappointing, doesn’t even look match fit to me.

Shame because I thought he’d make a real impression back in the Championship.

Got nothing against Paterson, one of my fav players cause you always know you get 100% comitment from him and trys his best, but if he dont win the header he offers nothing else.

If we would of had Tomlin on i think we would of had more goals, our wingers were cutting boro apart, lobbing the ball the middle to Paterson didnt help.

Bogle was faster then there defence, he had 1 through ball all game which he got to and just poked wide. He would of had more chances with Tomlin imo

That’s history and doesn’t matter a jot.
It’s the here and now that’s important hence the comments.

A failed right back that can’t control or pass the ball playing the position that requires the most creativity.
