My View:

Surely its the same for many other clubs over the last 20 years, not just for Warnock? ?

Cardiff City boss Neil Warnock fumes at 'scandalous' travel plans that could see him without key man for Derby County clash

The Bluebirds midfielder was away on international duty over the last week

Thursday 12th September 2019

Leandro Bacuna is a doubt for Cardiff City's game with Derby County after 'scandalous' planning from Curacao.

The midfielder, who played against Haiti on Tuesday in the Concacaf Nations League, is due back in the UK today, a little over 24 hours before the game, and will fly straight into East Midlands Airport.

Bluebirds manager Neil Warnock was furious with how poorly planned his journey has been and, given the player will not have time to meet up or train with the squad, revealed that Bacuna might be a doubt for Friday night's clash with Derby County.

What makes it doubly cruel for Warnock is that Wales boss Ryan Giggs afforded Rams forward Tom Lawrence a rest for the friendly against Belarus on Monday.

It means now that Lawrence is primed for the visit of Cardiff on Friday, while Bacuna might not be ready to feature in the starting lineup.

“The international players – Leandro Bacuna is not even flying back until this afternoon. It’s scandalous really how countries can get away with things like that.

“I know we have got to do it for television because of the finance but Friday night after an international break doesn’t help us when they are going all over the world.

“You need a manager like Ryan Giggs who says he is not going to play Lawrence in a friendly on the Monday because he has got a big game on the Friday.

“Unfortunately that’s against us. We need a manager like him with all our players.

“It’s not been easy at all – it’s been horrendous really.”

It means now that Will Vaulks, who played only a handful of minutes for Wales against Belarus, is more than likely to fill the void which could be left by Bacuna, who has been a regular for the Bluebirds this season, in the heart of midfield.

Junior Hoilett has also emerged as a doubt for Friday's game owing to personal issues.

Warnock also revealed that while some of the longer-term injuries such as Marlon Pack, Neil Etheridge and Sol Bamba have progressed well during the international break, there have also been some setbacks for others.

“Matt Connolly has had an operation on his ankle to clear it out. He just couldn’t get it right so they thought they better give it one last shot.

NEIL WARNOCK:

International Break

“Definitely been a hindrance. We’ve had the same team for three games but it doesn’t look like we can do that.”

We do have more Friday games these days, I don't think they were as regular in previous years that long ago.

But at the of the day he knows when he signs Bacuna he will be away on long trips, he also spent 3m on Vaulks as an option. To be honest its not an excuse.

But surely over the years many managers from Championship to Premier League, have many players away on international duty and all have to sweat and many have had matches on the Fridays & Saturdays. Many of our previous managers have had this problem.

I am Just beginning to get fed up of Warnock always moaning and always feeling sorry for himself.

I agree with the get on with it Warnock sentiment.

It is what it is. Sir Neil signed Bacuna, and Hoilett for that matter, knowing their international commitments.

The club has enough staff, including a head of international development!, and could take an active role in travel plans when something like this arises.

What Giggs did with Lawrence is irrelevant and Wales were only playing in Cardiff anyway. Stupid thing to raise.

After the team mate of Bacuna died whilst with the squad i can't imagine the lad will be at his best even if he gets back.

Whole thing only highlights how imbalanced our squad is for a championship season which has been raised on here all over the place. Those that moan that some realistic criticisms are voiced in posts should consider that Sir Neil sets the tone.

In fairness Neil, a member of Bacuna’s international squad did die this week...

Extremely poor comments from Warnock here.

I am sure in hindsight Warnock will regret those comments, even more so given the circumstances surrounding the Curacao National Team this week with Jarzinho Pieter.

Not that I want to sound like a hypocrite and pretend that A.) I knew who he was or B.) that it had even happened but I am sure we could all have forgiven Leandro if he hadn't made it back at all for tonight and to bring money into it talking about the air fare, seriously Neil!!!!! After everything this Club has been/going through including yourself.

I don't want to attack our Manager (we all make mistakes) but what a dickhead in this instance. :banghead:
