We were spoilt of course during the early Whittingham years but I am struggling to recall when we last scored direct from a free kick.
I think it was Pilkington in an early round of one of the cups (Fulham maybe) at CCS and that must have been three or four seasons ago now.
Bogle was unlucky when he hit the bar the other week but apart from that we seem to pose very little threat from direct free kicks.
Anyone know when we last scored one?

Thanks.
Never really take any notice of pre season as this topic obviously proves!
But what about in a league or cup game?

We seemed to get a lot more free kicks in good areas back when we had Whitts, probably because we played a different way. Like of Jay and Chops were involved a lot more in good areas.

We went all last season without a dead ball specialist

This is one of the main problems at moment our threats from corners and free kicks are non existent! Can say same with long throws NW needs to have a look at this and change way we approach them.

Bogle pre season apart, anyone able to say when we did last score direct from free kick?
Supposed to be our strength with corners and long throws but I'd doubt if any analysis of the facts backed it up. By contrast, think we concede more than average.

there is no one like our peter whittingham, love the legend and maybe he can return 1 day since he is a free agent.
i think we struggled ever since whitts left us hense the reason for the lack in a free kick expert within the team.

we do lack someone to put decent corners /free kicks in but Whitts im afraid is past it mate..
nobody hits the first man anymore trouble is none of the tame balls lobbed at the penalty spot are of any use to our team of giants either

Tomlin looks like he can hit a dead ball well. As he settles more maybe he may come good

Do you remember when Peterboro ended our unbeaten home record the time before last we were promoted to the PL. A certain Mr Tomlin smashed in a belter of a free kick that day. The other scorer was a certain Dwight Gayle. And the Posh finished bottom of the league that year, doing the double over us in the process.
