Reality Check for some..

Tue Aug 27, 2019 8:02 pm

Honestly don't know what some people expected this season.

Statistically teams relegated from the Premier League seldom 'bounce' straight back up

Out of the last 18 teams relegated from the Premier League only 2 have bounced back at the first time of asking, some have dropped down again.

If you go back the ratio no doubt becomes worst.

So given all that why the unrealistic expectations from some fans?

A top 10 finish this season will be satisfactory anything else a bonus.

We are in transition now.

Perhaps the manager should have left at the end of last season if that's the case.

Because at the end of this season we are going to be in even greater transition especially as there doesn't seem to be any other manager who plays with the same style currently employed by our team.

I thought we where supposed to be more ready for the championship if we went down ,this was the plan when we where still in the prem according to the so called experts.

I think many people would have liked to believe the manager and club when they said that we were going to make a real go at getting straight back up when all the transfer activity and the way things have gone so far this season have tended to suggest anything but.

Unless it was just the usual nonsense spouted to sell some season tickets.

Personally top 6 was always my aim this season, and that would be classed as success in my eyes, never in a million years did I think auto promotion. And bogle and vassell have answered many people’s questions tonight, stick with glatzel Neil.

And some of our players have been vastly overrated as well.

The likes of Joe Day should never have been brought here I’d take Murphy over him all day long.

We have replaced the players that left with crap.

I'm sure sky at the start of the season said that it was a higher return than that and that season 2 and 3 after relegation was far less likely for promotion.

I don't disagree with that mate.

Is that right? Thank you, so only 20 teams out of what 50 plus relegated from the Premier League have bounced straight back up.

You have just reinforced my point perfectly.

Well, if were going to have a write off season, I’d like it to be playing enjoyable football, not hoof ball. It literally is just that. The games where we play well and don’t “hoof” it are the players taking their own initiative, not Warnock telling them to suddenly change.

If you consider we spent 30 million a year ago and possibly another 10 this summer, that’s 40 million spent which is more than a lot if clubs in this league I believe? You would think spending so much would get you up there with a decent manager. Strangely Neil spent about 5 million to get us over the line last time.....

I’m pretty sure no team ever bounced back by losing quality players and wasting money on unproven players of a lesser standard.

Agreed. And our two marque signings in Reid and Murphy were allegedly the future and would burn the Championship up should we be relegated!

teams relegated from the premier league don't sell their best players and bring in lesser players ?
is this some sort of parallel universe you 2 live in or what.

Lots of clubs have gone straight back up tho.....I believed what NW said that if we were relegated from PL that we would be in great shape to come straight back up....nothing was ever mentioned about transition....I’m a big believer in NW and will judge after 10 games but at the mo it sounds like BS us being on good shape to go straight back up

I don't think he would have stayed if he did not believe that tbh..but football is not a science.. Bobby Reid scores the sitter or Etheridge doesn't get injured and we probably beat Wigan and we looked fine at Reading prior to Packs injury...its small margins..one thing im sure of ,is that we needed a cup run like a hole in the head.
