Neil Warnock Admits Bluebirds Are Struggling To Keep Up With The High Fliers
By Dai Sports
Monday 26th August 2019
Neil Warnock admitted Cardiff City are just trying to “hang on to the coat-tails” of the Championship leaders even though they picked up their first points away from home this season.
NEIL WARNOCK:
“You look at Leeds and Fulham and you look at a few lads who might pull away and we just have to hang on to their coat-tails,” said Warnock.
"We haven't the fire-power or money that some of the other Championship clubs have, so we just have to try and hang on in."
“We could have lost it at the end by being a bit sloppy which we have been on a few away games this season,” Warnock said.
“Overall, though, it was a proper result. I thought we had the better chances but it’s not an easy place to come to.
“We’ve had three games in six days so we had one or two tired legs. A few things have gone against us injury-wise but you have to give the lads credit, when we can play, we do.
"I thought we coped admirably at Blackburn."
“Most of our lads are from the Championship so there’s nothing new to add, that might be an advantage. We’ve got four tough points from two games so I’m delighted."
"I will make changes for the Luton game, give other lads the chance."

Is this an excuse? or a dig at Tan not really backing him?

Not really think it's typical NW comments look at us trying to catch the big boys in this league but we'll do our best! Trouble is way he likes to play football feel we never see the best of players we have or he's brought in! He's spent enough to make us competitive in top 10 that's for sure.
Mon Aug 26, 2019 9:53 am
Typical warnock, sells or doesn’t replace our players who can actually play a bit then recruits poorly leaving us unbalanced and to be frank looking fukin terrible and it’s not like we haven’t spent cod we have but we bought a load of cheap players and unproven players, glatzel looks decent whyte is ok too but hardly what u expect of a team coming down and wanting to return to the premiership. We have more chance of signing Messi and bale than getting promotion under warnock again. His times coming to an end and he only has himself to blame, shit recruiting and even worse tactics are nobody else’s fault but his own

I thought neil said we need to think big at the end of last season, because we are one of the big boys, and where going to be a perfect championship team, lets hope it gets going quickly.

Certainly not the latter
Vincent Tan wants to get the club back to the big league and has backed Neil Warnock to do it. Where the issue appears to have come is the unavailability of the initial targets (whoever they actually were) and not wanting to pay OTT prices for players who might not provide 'value' and/or upset the Warnock team ethic
The truth is, we'll probably never know but we're only 6 points off the top and there's a long long way to go yet for a side still finding their feet back in the Championship with a string of new players to boot
Positivity breeds positivity and backing the boys at this time can reap dividends down the line!

Why have folk got to drag Mr Tan in when he backed Warnock big time ? Warnock said himself h had to stop Mr Tan spending !!
Perhaps for some it's easier to blame Mr Tan and the board rather than the so called Messiah.
Stop moaning get behind the team and see what happens at Xmas I say.

The first time we came down from the premier we struggled and took us a while to get on par how many pts after 10 games? Not many if my memory is right then had a good finish to the season, this season it's a better start even though we've lost 2 games which if I'm honest everyone would have expected 4 pts minimum from wigan and reading away,if we can get our wide player's concentrating on making chances for our forwards than covering defenders they might start scoring goals but as long as these tactics continue we'll continue to stay mid table ish, warnock needs to update his tactics and let our more attacking players do to other teams what teams are doing to us

Leeds didn't spend a penny yet added quality
Reid Zahore Gunnarson plus more have left and we knew they were going
He had money to spend but brought in lower league players
We won't go up playing dour football

Took look at keeds as far as can see your right spent little but 6 loans in so cost of that plus wages ! Did get rid of plenty of players but most undisclosed so no info of cost., looks like using loans to get promoted then buy better quality for premier league if get there a prudent way of doing things...

"We haven't the fire-power or money that some of the other Championship teams have"
Eh?
Apart from Huddersfield and Fulham we've had about £100m more than the other teams in the Championship over last season and this.
Beginning to think the manager cannot cope with the pressure of expectation any more.
Has to constantly feel like he's hard done by and that everyone else has more money and better players than we do, that we are the "plucky underdogs" who have everything going against them constantly, who always have our backs against the wall.

Although I hate criticising Warnock, I tend to agree with every word you say. He's brought it upon himself and could well leave us in a very similar position to when he took over. Very poor recruitment....wasted tens of millions of pounds. Possibly not all his fault though...I suspect the infrastructure at the Club regarding scouting and transfers is piss poor. Looks like this is a great opportunity missed

More fans moaning it’s 5 games in FFS. We will be up their in the top 6 come the end of the season.
Warnock comments similar to many managers are to take pressure of the players.

think its a bit premature for people to be dissecting these interviews.
but have to say im underwhelmed by our summer business myself.

I like Warnock and he's one of the better managers we've had but the constant putting ourselves down is wearing thin, we went into the matches against the big guns last season beaten before we went on the pitch. You can't keep bigging up our rivals and making us out to be underdogs, we started the season as one of the favourites and if we falter it will be due to we ain't good enough nothing else. Come on Warnock man up and stop spouting this bullshit.
Mon Aug 26, 2019 3:17 pm
What have Leeds got that we haven't?? I'd say the two teams are pretty equal, if not slightly in our favour. Fulham have bought well, but they've also sold their best players.
Mitrovic is the gem in their side. God knows what he's doing in this league.
Im getting sick of the Warnock bashing. That bloke led us to promotion with a shower of shit for a squad and with any sort of luck we'd still be there.
Its his last season, we have to watch the finances, and I bet we wont be far off top 6 come May.
Yes, Reading made me madder than the days of Solskjaer, but I'm sure we'll be ok.
Getting Etheridge and Bamba will help!

Well put mate.
I hate popping off at Warnock but the buck stops with him with recruitment and the way we play and approach games.
I was hoping for top 6 minimum before the window ended but feel we'll be closer to 9th or 10th now.
I'm thinking the worse but hoping for the best.
Some decent free agents still around if we're still able to sign free agents?
Mon Aug 26, 2019 4:36 pm
Don’t get Warnocks comments, stating the obvious really,if we don’t pick up points away from home, only one point out of a possible nine,we ll be miles away from the automatic spots come Christmas, never mind end of season
Mon Aug 26, 2019 4:42 pm
well i bet that makes Glatzel, Vassell, Ward and Bogle feel confident eh, we dont have the fire power.
anyone else just tired of this nonsense, that we don't have, we don't have. SWANSEA, have less....and they are flying.
the problem warnock faces is the same problem he faced when he first joined. his style of play, fans will accept any dogshite, aslong as the club manages to win. if on the other hand you fail to win, then fans wont accept the dogshit football, and sadly, we no longer are getting the wins. we drew 0-0 to blackburn, and he said it was a good point, as we could of lost it in the end..... how is that acceptable, we should of been the team that could of won it at the end, but sadly, our coaching staff are all from an era of long ball, theres no creativity anywhere

Very few fans take into consideration we are half a new side need time to gel yes footy is not the best but early days! At end day its what happens at end season that counts ? Everyone creamed over Fulham in championship and premier who finished above them on both occasions? Would fans want every team play same way whether its tipy tap or direct football it be boring as fck if same by all teams.

Long way to go yet and we tend to do well with thus style when it's cold wet miserable and relentless. I'd be more worried if we were struggling a few weeks down the line when the winter starts to kick in

I'm not particularly fond of NW style but it's what we got and like it's been said it gets results in this league?

Underdog mentality - always brings the best out of Warnock and arguably ourselves.

Of course we are, even if we try our hardest im afraid that others such as fulham, derby and now it looks like even rivals Bristol and Swansea will have adapted to the league and will be more consistent in terms of wins and potentially injuries.
All we can do is do our best just to get 3 points from every game no matter how ugly we get them.

The better players are not going to come here and play hoof ball unless we pay higher wages.
