A forum for all things Cardiff City

Cardiff manager Neil Warnock:
"We've had three games in six days so we had one or two tired legs. A few things have gone against us injury-wise but you have to give the lads credit, when we can play, we do.
"Today it was unusual for us to face so many long balls! I'd get slaughtered! But I thought we coped admirably.
"We've got four tough points from two games so I'm delighted. You look at Leeds and Fulham and you look at a few lads who might pull away and we just have to hang on to their coat-tails.”

We really do need our strikers to start scoring, this would put a completely different perspective on our performances and ease the burden on our defence.

This is the Championship - Nothing much has changed over the years with the format -
Game on the weekend - then next game Tue/Weds and then again on the following weekend .
OK most clubs might have had a 3 in 7 day games/played,but its about having a squad and getting on with it .

The tactics we play dont work around our strikers unfortunately

We got a lot of players injured atm and with the high demands . So why wasn’t we more active in the transfer market?

I agree completely .I REALLY believe it’s just Warnock wanting to be some kind of martyr by saying I haven’t spent as much as other managers but look I’m doing well.

But he has spent a fair amount this summer compared with his peers. It's a myth for him or the club to suggest otherwise

That shouldn't really be an excuse at the start of the season but I certainly don't think that the amount of injuries we have suffered have helped the new players bed in.
Still not sure the pre-season was of sufficient quality to get us ready for the busy start to the season however.

So what, it’s the same for every club. Anyone else getting a bit weary of the managers comments? This coming on top of City hanging onto Leeds and Fulham’s coat tails.

Well he's got to say something to dampen the unrealistic expectation surrounding the club atm.We haven't won our first five games like we did last time and the crisis junkies are in overdrive mode.I think we are just beginning to find our feet and a draw against Fulham will do nicely.

its the same no matter who the manager is these days , they are expected to give 3 or 4 interviews a week and have to say something.. not sure what you expect. we did play three games in 6 days. we have lost key players in games to injury and there are teams youd expect to be making the running.
weary of constant moans about players not seeing pubs tucked behind fly overs and anything and everything our manager says.

Is this yet another example of an excuse? That's Championship football for you Neil. You, of all people,,, should know that!

Surely for 20 grand a week they should be running through brick walls.
