Suprised me but lets be honest we have not seen much of him, but lets hope neil keeps the same side looked like they where coming together as a team ,tomlin and murphy should be in satuday not back on the bench.

Neil Warnock heaped praise Lee Tomlin for his gruelling work ethic in pre-season after he returned to the starting line up for the win over Huddersfield Town on Wednesday night.
Warnock, whose hand was forced by the injuries to Marlon Pack and Callum Paterson, handed Tomlin his first appearance since the FA Cup tie against Mansfield back in January 2018.
It was a tough task for Tomlin, but after he toiled away this summer to reach the peak of his fitness, Warnock believes it was just rewards for the hours of graft put in by the Bluebirds' most mercurial talent.
"He deserves a pat on the back because I never thought he would get as fit as he is in his career after looking at the last two years," Warnock said.
"But lets not get carried away, it's the first game back and he'll be tired after tonight but it'll give him a massive lift and he deserves that."
Tomlin's presence was felt immediately. He put others in space with his passing and created openings of his own with his neat feet to create a handful of good chances for the Bluebirds in the first half.

He did well tonight.
I never expected, or wanted, to see him play for us again due to his previous fitness problems - didn't think he'd come back from it.
But I'll hold my hands up, he put in a good shift tonight.
Agree with Warnock that it's early days, and I don't think he was MOTM (Ralls better), but it's a good start.

So nice to see a player with such technical ability on the pitch. Loved his passing and nice flicks on the ball. Hopefully he'll be in the starting 11 regularly now.

With pack possibly out for a couple of months, this could well be Tomlin's chance to shine, thought he was good today, and will get better with a run of games behind him,if you are reading this Mr tomlin, show us what you can do,was weird that we had 24 shots today

let's hope it continus

I said in a thread the other day, that he and Murphy needed to start, and I also slated Hoilett for his abject performance against reading, well done to him for getting the winner,my other thought was that bogle was the in form striker, and perhaps Glatzel should be brought in slowly, being in a new league and that,I don't agree with some posters who think 5m means he should start

look at Reid 11.5m but on the bench, zohore 8m also on the bench

in my eyes 5m is peanuts, even in the championship

To me a striker thrives on confidence, bogle was the in form striker who should have been starting, if he doesn't do much, bring in Glatzel or Vassell.

Let’s be realistic here, Tomlin’s only playing because Pack is fucked. The only player who can unlock the opposition defence we’ve got, needs to play as often as is possible. Really hope he can give Warnock no reason to drop him.

I said a couple of weeks back that I think he will play a big part this season. Has a lot to offer, just needs to have his head in the right place.

Love his on the floor firm passes to feet makes a difference. Quick passes too hardly dithered on the ball

Thought he was good. Added a bit of spark that has been missing. Should've done better with a couple of his shots. But the passing (forwards) was there. His no look pass to Murphy end of first half was brilliant. Certainly gets fans off their seats. More to come from him I think. And he looked like he was enjoying being out there which is great to see and got a deserved round of applause when he went off.

To see the best of Tomlin the other need to learn how to play with him He can serve passes others don’t and they do t tend to make the runs If players do learn could be a game changer

It was refreshing seeing a midfielder going direct at goal instead of out wide or back, Ralls has been superb for us in midfield but notice he takes the side pass and back pass more often over going direct at goal
Honestly believe Tomlin made a massive difference to the squad yesterday and a huge chunk of the 24 attempts on goal

Going forward, a fit again Pack, Ralls and Tomlin maybe the answer to our midfield conundrum. No other players at our disposal currently fit the bill.
If we are there or thereabouts come Christmas, we really should be looking to add proven quality in that area to help get us over the line.

Tomlin links midfield with attack, something we’ve been crying out for, great vision, balance and great to watch.
Can’t really understand why there’s a negativity around him as he’s our most creative player by a distance.
Could see his influence last night as in my opinion we played the best we have so far.

Good to see him thanking staff and more so the fans on social media for all the support.

I think the only negativity was down to him allowing himself to get 2 stone overweight whilst being paid handsomely.
He had his issues and now, hopefully, has dealt with them but if he were to put that weight on again he simply wouldn’t be fit enough to perform like he did last night.
If he can maintain his fitness it will be like a new signing and there’s not many City fans who wouldn’t want that.

I think his weight issue predominantly started after being dropped, there’s no question he used to be on the tubby side and has lost a few pounds but still for the life of me and many others I will never know why Warnock dropped him in the first place but anyway I’m glad he’s back.

I'm not sure he'll start too many away games.
We are much more defensively set up in away games and I think he may be more as an impact sub to try to save the game late on if we're behind or win they game if we're still on level terms after about 70 minutes.

How's our current tactic away from home worked out for us so far? Just give him a go

Ummm we’ve let in six goals in the last two away games it’s not working out very defensive
