Been here before in Warnock I trust

Sun Aug 18, 2019 2:09 pm

He has turned us around countless times.

He will do so again.

Many said the squad was strong. Now many are saying it’s shit. Can’t all be right.

Now is not the time to be divided.

My concern is that we have gone backwards Big time. NW has to now change things that are totally alien to him,,,, playing football on the ground with creative players. Lets not pussy foot around, Every one knows how a Neil Warnock team sets up & plays,,, even the newer Championship coaches know,,, just like a worn out gramophone record, were to predictable.

A lot of soul searching & hard work is required now,,, & starting v Huddersfield.

The beginning of the end??? All the signs are there!

First 15 we were passing it round looking nice.

Unfortunately no good just looking nice. We gave the ball away countless times in the first 15 mins & just passed the ball around on the touch line. Didn’t get in the box at all. Posed no threat other than 1 Ralls shot.

We do seem to struggle in the centre of midfield.

For all his haters on here it just didn’t happen when we had Gunnar centre mid.

Our best formation is still three at the back I think with Paterson right wing back. Murphy off the front man.

Individual errors costing us again - trust Warnock to get these out of our system - let’s not panic just yet.

Warnock is big part of the problem. I’ll never shout him down at a match though, he deserves respect for what he has done for us as a Club. His transfer record is poor and I’ll feel the game has left him behind a little.

Have to disagree with that.
Gunnarsson was poor in the last few years. Running about, passing to the opposition and doing a lot of pointing. Pack, from the little I’ve seen, is twice the player.

I can’t remember where 3 at the back worked for us. He’s only used it on the very odd occasion so obviously it’s not right.

Patterson as a footballer is a donkey. Technically very poor but we all know what he brings to the team.
Murphy like Hoilett and Mendez-Laing fades in and out of games constantly.

Arsenal and Southampton away last year three at the back and two really good away performances.

Sorry I meant away from home.

Yeah quite possibly mate. I don’t remember the games but my point holds. We rarely play it (for a reason) and it rarely works in my experience.
If you look at how big and slow our central defenders are then it’s a certain no form me. We’d get overrun and destroyed.

Love warnock and best manager we’ve had for a long time. BUT today was terrible and we were in between being rough and hard to beat and trying to play good football so in the end did neither. Love sir Neil and want to give him the respect he deserves but for the first time since he took over I’m unsure. Hope I’m wrong!!

We are now in the same position we were when he came here.

Re: Been here before in Warnock I trust

No we’re not mate when he came in we were heading to league 1 with no unity and togetherness he has brought all that back. If it doesn’t go well in the next couple of games we’ll see but at the moment we have to trust him he has earnt that much at least

Re: Been here before in Warnock I trust

Football has moved on yet we are still stuck in a time warp of having a team of mainly six foot four giants playing the old Wimbledon way. It's becoming more and more ineffective and younger managers are more clued up on the modern game and if we don't change our style we will get turned over on a regular basis this season. On todays performance we look more like a team who will be fighting for survival rather than chasing promotion. Warnock has done a good job since he arrived but his style of play is looking very dated.

Something is not right on paper this looks like a big strong Warnock team, that’s should be smashing the teams we’ve played so far?

They don’t look fit, or really together as a team, they are getting injured really quickly, the pre season preparation looks wrong we’ve started terribly?

I do trust Warnock to go back to basics and put it right, we need to win Wednesday !!!

There’s been other posts regarding fitness, injuries, and a general apathy around our players,,, they can’t all be wrong,,, and I believe that something is going on behind the scenes. Bamba hit a raw nerve in a recent interview.

Whenever performances like these arose in the past we would find out later the players had not been paid or been out on the piss.
Something is just not right at the moment.

the next couple of games are crucial, I love sir Neil and I like the squad he has built this year. I’m scared that we have gone slightly stale and have never seen us ripped apart In the championship by such an average side before.

have to disagree with the comment above about gunners being poor the last few years, i think due to injuries he just adapted his game, he become a shield infront of the back 4, so he wasnt the same "passing" a bit more box to box creative player we had in his prime.

the truth is, during our promotion season, i think Fulham, and Wolves played a possession based game. both sides were miles ahead of us, but we managed to hold onto second. this time around it seems all the teams in the league are adopting this style, which means our midfield now has to have 3 in order not to get out run, which means the gap between our striker and midfield is too big, we seen today, both NML and Hoillet both kept cutting inside, way too early in order to try and just support Glatzel. which then meant, our full backs had to essentially play "winger" which left us WAY exposed at the back

Huddersfield game on Wednesday is massive. In fairness we couldn't have asked for an easier set of fixtures to begin with so we need to start winning again soon as we have some horrible fixtures in October/November.
