MY VIEW: A LACK LUSTER PERFORMANCE/SHOCKING

Sun Aug 18, 2019 1:11 pm

MY VIEW / OPINION

A LACK LUSTER PERFORMANCE / SHOCKING / LOST 3-0 COULD OF BEEN 6, READING MISSED PENALTY/ OPEN GOAL/ CITY PLAYERS LOOKED NOT UP FOR IT.

Defence shocking / Upfront pitiful.

What a shocking first-half by Cardiff, defence was torn apart by bottom of the Championship Reading.

READING 3 CARDIFF CITY 0
H/T 2-0
Crowd Away Support ( 2,000 Cardiff Fans Sold out)

City: Alex Smithies Leandro Bacuna Sean Morrison Aden Flint Joe Bennett Joe Ralls Will Vaulks Marlon PackJunior Hoilett Nathaniel Mendez-Laing Robert Glatzel

Subs:Joe Day Curtis Nelson Callum Paterson
Gavin Whyte Josh Murphy Omar Bogle Isaac Vassell

24th min Curtis Nelson makes his debut as Marlon Pack goes off injured

26th min Readings first shot on goal 1-0  tore Cardiff’s defence apart.

40th min Cardiff went 2-0 down

H/T 2-0

Half-time subs

Warnock put Paterson and Vassell on and took Hoilett and Vaulks off. That was all of Cardiff’s subs used.

Honestly City just not in the game and a pitiful performance

The performance was lacking energy in all areas.
Very few came out of the game with any credit.
A big week coming up and another performance like today and the knives will be out.

So dissapointing to see players jogging back when Reading broke away, happened at Wigan as well.
Where is the energy of the team, we looked completely out of our depth.

The old , it's someone else's fault can only be peddled out so many times, who is he blaming this time? Sorry but Warnock just doesn't seem to be up for it anymore and it's rubbed off on players imo.

Buy cheap get cheap !!

It's the same old problems predicted weeks ago.

No pace in defence, still no right back, lack of quality in midfield and no real number 10 anymore. God knows if the strikers are up to it, they had no service but they certainly didn't cause any problems.

Very frustrating and looking at the squad I just don't see the answers at the moment.

Concerning we have played the teams near the bottom.

Pack went off and the team fell apart. No wonder Warnock had a face like thunder at the end. Bennett totally missing for the first two goals.

Lack of creativity.

Mendez off the pace.

No service to Glatzel.

Give Tomlin a go, I say.

We can’t have too many more performances like that.

On the bright side, I thought Curtis played well when he came on.

43 games left so let’s not panic yet. :bluebird: :bluescarf:

An observation Jason Perry made last week was that he didn't think the players are fit enough and our pre-season was poor. I totally agree. The poorest aspect of today was the application of the team. They jogged bag without the ball and were second best in tackles all the time. That is unacceptable. This was worst performance under Warnock and possibly the worst football from City since Trollope was in charge. The whole tone around the team and Warnock feels wrong at the moment. I don't get any genuine sense the club want to fight for promotion. I can easily see us losing on Wednesday and if there is the same effort as today the players and Warnock need to be told by the fans exactly how we feel.

The issues were predicted by many
* Slow centre halves
* No depth in the centre midfield

However the problem for me runs a lot deeper.
* Warnock only has one game plan and struggles to handle players with talent when they struggle to fit into this plan. What happened to building the team around Murphy and Reid. What about totally ignoring Tomlin .
* The club have a serious issue in attracting the players to this club.

Murphy created more last week in the first 5 mins than whole team did in 90 today and he doesn’t get to kick a ball.Glatzel looks ok but he needs some quality service(crosses were poor today).
We need to play a right back ina right back position even if it’s a youngster.
Roll on Wednesday.

The longer we go without creating much for the attacking players the closer Tomlin will get to the side. I think we could be seeing him sooner rather than later as there seems to be a divide between midfield and attack at the moment

Yards slower, no fight, no idea, passing game abysmal, defence missing, forwards no service from totally inept midfield and i hate to say it but look like relegation candidates on that performance, some of the players out there should be ashamed, I've watched Cardiff since the Toshack days and have witnessed some bad displays but this must rank right up along the worst for total lack of desire !! something's not right in the squad and i hope Warnock can sort it out quickly

You could tell our defense was bad when you concede 3 goals to a club like Wigan

The worrying thing is what could change. The players that got relegated are playing with a losers mentality. These lower league players that have been brought in are just not good enough. Why do we have one genuine full back at the club (I just can't count the forever injured Richards)? the mind boggles.

Re: MY VIEW: A LACK LUSTER PERFORMANCE/SHOCKING

What is lacking.
We had Bryson in midfield in our promotion season who many did not rate but he gave us energy in midfield, last season we had Arter providing the same energy.
Who do we have now providing the same?

Just look at the weight that an already overweight Paterson has put on over the summer. His reward for being out of condition is a starting place. Any other club and he'd probably be docked wages for coming back looking like that!

In fairness to him although he carries a bit of weight it doesn't stop him getting about.

It DOES stop him from getting around. He didn't close Luton down at all well last week. He huffs and puffs but his movement is appalling

Fair enough, didn't see the Luton game.
