Cardiff City Stadium, name change?
Originally our new stadium was named as Cardiff City Stadium, as it would be easier to change once the naming rights were sold. Nearly 10 years down the line and the name hasn’t changed.
I am shocked Tan has not cashed in or named it to do with his country?

I think originally it was to do with Sam getting a certain amount from any naming of the stadium.
Now Sam is out I'm surprised it hasn't been named.

I personally think he’s saving it for a rainy day. For the last 5 years we have been in the Prem or receiving parachute money and this will continue for this season and next. If we don’t get promoted and stop getting parachute payments he will use his company to sponsor the stadium (Berjaya Stadium) as some type of cash injection to by-pass FFP similar to what Man City did with the Etihad. Thoughts?

Surely it would of a financial gain to have an outside interest rather than Tans own company,eg Principality or something.
By the way why wasn’t Ninian Park ever renamed especially with Sam and all the money problems back in the day?

I think the Cardiff City Stadium is great as it is .Shows a bit of class not having to sell the name to some faceless multinational or payday loan crew for a quick buck.Good advert for the club and capital city when Wales play too.

Agreed - Cardiff City Stadium is simple but classy.

For the amount tan can generate in naming rights think CCS is far more beneficial to the club and the city of Cardiff! Couple million to call it whatever is not worth it

Maybe with everything that happened with the Colour and badge change he's a bit hesitant to change the name of the stadium fearing a backlash and undoing the good work he's done with getting the fans back on side. A name change of stadium personally wouldn't bother me but perhaps Tan just doesn't want to go down this road again. Just a thought anyway.

Would love it to be sponsored by Lego...Just for the Jacks, as it actually means "play well"

I asked Ken Choo this question in person as our paths crossed through work in 2017. He said the club will look to address this in the coming years and certainly didn’t rule it out, but naturally didn’t give too much information. Gave me the impression it’s a case of when not if.

I'd rather have our own stadium name rather than our home just becoming another bland company name such as HSBC, Emirates, Visit England or Tampax stadium. Who cares about a couple of million pounds. We blew more than we'd get for the naming rights on Madine and Tomlin.

Always fancied something like St David’s Park as an alternative.
