A VIEW FROM THE GROUND:CITY V LUTON TOWN

Sat Aug 10, 2019 3:57 pm

As always, I entered the CCS full of hope as the home season began. City put out what I thought was a decent starting XI and I was intrigued to see how the newbies got on

A decent attacking start from City could have seen us 2 or 3 up in the opening 15 minutes but it was clear that Luton were a team capable of some decent football with some slick moves

As the game settled on a blustery afternoon, the chances became fewer and fewer as both teams cancelled each other out to the point they were flatter than the attending crowd

Thank goodness for Vince and his drum! :laughing6:

H-T: CITY 0 - 0 LUTON

The second half started with City upping the tempo and that quickly resulted in a home debut goal for Aden Flint

City fans were in raptures for a couple of minutes

The game ebbed and flowed but with no real end product until Luton gained a fortuitous corner that saw Luton head past the City defence for 1 - 1

At least it livened the City support up and with 5 minutes of regular time left, Luton began their delaying tactics

Vassell on for Glatzel gave City some fresh hope and he came up trumps for City

F-T: CITY 2 - 1 LUTON TOWN

To be fair, I thought City should have bossed this game at 1-0 up but it didn't really happen. Was impressed with Flint, Pack and Glatzel and each showed promise of better things to come :thumbright:

my first game in ages and really enjoyed it, glatzel vassel whyte pack and smithies were all excellent on debut but the main man for me was flint, the ball is attracted to his head, he seemed to clear everything and he showed he can chip in with goals, vassel looks like he could be really good in the 5 mins he had on the pitch. we won't be far away with this squad
