Cardiff City had late bid for striker accepted, he blocked the move
By Lucas Sposito

Cardiff City nearly had a late signing on deadline day, according to reports from the Spanish press.

Newspaper Diário de Sevilla reports that the Welsh side made an attempt to sign Loren Morón from Real Betis.

Cardiff City made a bid of €9m to sign the 25-year-old, and from Betis’ point of view, it was enough to take the player to the Championship.

The problem was that Morón himself didn’t accept the move. The outlet writes that the striker ‘didn’t feel seduced’ by the transfer, and ended up turning it down.

Morón is said to be living a living a strange situation at Bétis, because the club are not really keen on keeping him. He’s not having a great pre-season and the arrival of Borja Iglesias could mean he’s sidelined for most of the season.

Still, Morón not only turned down Cardiff, but other clubs as well. So he’s not really concerned about what Betis think of his future.

I saw this on deadline day, it seemed strange then and even stranger now becaue if we had signed him (I've no doubt he is a decent striker) it would have been after we signed the big german and vassell, so that would have given us 6 strikers this season, maybe warnock was going to play two up front if this signing came off???

They were desperate to get rid of him. Just been reading an article that said West Ham were interested this year but were put off as his contract had a 40 million Euro release clause.

Going from 40 million to 9 million means they wanted to offload him asap.

Sounds to me like we dodged a bullet there.

Why didn't we spend that cash on a decent play maker which we desperately need.
