RAIN AND WIND FORCE A CHANGE OF TACTICS

Sat Aug 10, 2019 10:08 am

Neil maybe forced into a change of tactics, put it in the air today and it may not come down, also hoping smithies plays, if day plays in this wind it could give him nightmares after last week

Day is a better keeper than Smithies. The sooner people realise this the better for themselves scapegoated for no reason from 1 game.

I predict a lot of unexpected results today. For the games that go ahead, almost anything is possible in these sort of conditions.

PHILDAVIES

Did' nt say he was a worse keeper but i was at wigan last week and it was a bad debut thats all, and with the conditions bad his confidence could go right down if he has a mare thats all.

By bad debut do you mean because 3 goals were conceded or he didn't play very well and was in some way to blame for the goals?

I thought he did OK.

THE HANGED MAN

just the whole thing for him in at the deep end the 2 quick goals conceded and the final result would not make him feel top of the world on his first game.

I really hope we keep the ball on the ground a lot more today as I think we have players who can be quite comfortable with that style of play.

However with a team where almost every player is six foot or over I think it's likely to be more of the usual lump it up stuff.

Fair comment, I get your point but maybe sometimes it's sink or swim. I feel if he put Smithies in it may undermine him more.

Day is not a better keeper than smithies at all. Hence why smithies has spent the majority of his career in the championship and Day in league 2.

What do you base that on?

Have you actually watched a lot of them both or you just assuming Smithies is better go watch their matches and you will see the truth. Anyway brilliant last minute win today onwards and upwards and hopefully the doom and gloom merchants shut up for a bit.

They are not even in the same category quality wise

Joe day has only ever played league 2 and non-league, even at that level he only made about 50 appearances in 10 years because he was not first choice

Alex Smithies has made over 350 appearances at championship level and represented his country at every age level apart from seniors

There is a massive quality difference between the two and Smithies is rightly #1 at the moment and possibly for the future if he carries on like he did today.

I very much doubt we will see Joe day again this season once Etheridge is fit

The up in the air tactic was almost perfect today... thought I saw 5 consecutive headers, including 2 side flicks in one glorious passage of play.

Luton never stood a chance.

Imo smithies had very little to do today
So easy to say he done well
I still remember the gillingham goal he let in
And the howler pre season of our prem season
Think it was against bodmin raced out and totally missed the ball andvthey scored into a empty net
