Isaac Vassell on joining Cardiff City from Birmingham

“I’m delighted to get here,” said Vassell.
“Cardiff City is a massive club. Look at the squad - there are some big players in there and the manager is amazing.
“It feels like the right step to further my career. I want to show everyone what I’m about: pace, power and getting goals. Hopefully, I can make that happen.
“There are a good few faces in the squad and the lads that I’ve seen have already made me feel welcome, which is brilliant.”

But perhaps it was Steve Cotterill who was the most vociferous in his praise. Having worked his way back to full fitness following his horrific knee injury, Vassell was given a lofty billing by Cotterill, who predicted the striker would go on to bigger and better things.

"I think he is tremendous. I love this kid to death, he is an absolute diamond. I was delighted for him," he said.

"He could be proper good – and I don’t think he is fit yet because hasn’t played enough football. That was his first 90 minutes.

"The staff kept saying to me 'he has only played 45 minutes', you know? But I keep looking at him and there is no chance I'm going to bring him off. I thought he was excellent."

Niasse was miles better than Bobby Weed anyway, Warnock picked him every week!

Sometimes as part of a loan deal, the player has to play in a certain amount or percentage of the games or the club has to pay a penalty. Perhaps that was partly why, Niasse was picked so often.

1 goal from 23 games is better than we got from Niasse. He scored 1 goal less!

Cotterill. What’s he doing now? A below average journeyman footballer and manager who has quite a few clubs on his CV. Stoke, Burnley, Brizzle and Brum amongst others.

Never rated him.

Hope Warnock wasn’t influenced by Cotterill’s reference.

Brilliant leap for the header from a great cross from Hoilett who must start from now on by far our best winger. He will get a lot of assists this year.
