Friday 9th August 2019

NEIL WARNOCK:

Neil Warnock on Bobby Reid's move to Fulham

"There’s bound to be consternation, you can’t blame fans for that. About three weeks ago, I had a call from his agent saying ‘hypothetically if we got a big bid would you consider it’. I said no, I am building a team around him. About 10 days two weeks later, he asked again and asked if I’d considered it. So I knew something was bubbling beneath the surface."

Neil Warnock has given a fitness update ahead of tomorrow's clash with Luton

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Gavin Whyte has been superb in training, he has been brilliant, so exciting. Greg Cunningham needed to get some game time, so to get him in the Championship until Christmas is great really. Lee Tomlin has been in bed all week with gastroenteritis."

"Matt Connolly had that bad blood disorder, but he had an operation on his ankle this summer so won’t be available until October. Jazz is about a month away. Etheridge is out for a while. Bamba October.”

Neil Etheridge fitness update

"Its a grade three tear. One or two of our lads have tight hamstrings. We left it too late to get a flight and spent six or seven hours on a bus on Friday. That won’t happen again.”

Neil Warnock's message to Bobby Reid's fans

NEIL WARNOCK:

"Fans never know the full story so they just make it up, You can’t say anything about any deal really and you’ve just got to bite your tongue. It’s gone now."

“If you look at the players we’ve lost and people will write us off. It’s not far off a rebuild with all the players that have gone.
“We will never let the individuals upset the apple cart and that starts tomorrow.”

I said no, I am building a team around him. About 10 days two weeks later, he asked again and asked if I’d considered it. So I knew something was bubbling beneath the surface."

“As it turns out it was Fulham he had his heart set on. You know how my teams are built, if a player’s heart is not in it, you can’t keep them. If anyone wants to leave my club they always can, and I’m not going to change now."

“I was very disappointed but agents are agents. Unless the player moves they don’t get paid. It’s one of those things, I was very disappointed with the way the agent went about it. I was disappointed to be honest how Bobby played in pre-season."

"It came from his agent and that’s how the ball got rolling. I asked him and he said he would prefer to go to Fulham. They are everyone’s favourites to go up, it doesn’t always work like that as we will hopefully prove.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

Neil Warnock on what Marlon Pack will bring to Cardiff City

I’m so delighted to have him. It’s hard to replace players like Aron Gunnarsson, you need talkers and leaders and he was the one we always talked about when we played Bristol.
“He always controlled the area and I was surprised he became available. As soon as he became available I was delighted with that.
“I didn’t think we would get him, I thought it would only happen if Bobby Reid went to Bristol City. But I asked if it was a possibility after Reid decided to go to Fulham and Lee came back and said everything was agreed.”

Neil Warnock on facing Luton at Cardiff City Stadium

"The fans have been amazing, record number away from home. We are looking forward to it. We like playing at home."

"The pitch has had a bit of a problem but we hope that can be put right. The volume level at home never ceases to amaze me.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

Neil Warnock on new signing Glatzel

"We don’t know do we?

"The Championship is a ruthless league but I’ve loved his attitude. How many people want to stay behind and improve?
“He’s that sort of lad. He knows he’s not the finished article. I like the attitude and that might rub off on one or two.”

NEIL WARNOCK:

Neil Warnock on new signing Isaac Vassell

I’ve always liked Isaac. When I was at Rotherham I tried to buy him when he played for Truro. I asked the chairman to buy him but he didn’t really want to go down the line of non league.
“He got a move to Luton and then Birmingham and thought I could do something with him I do like him and think I can get a lot more out of him.”

More from Neil Warnock on Marlon Pack

"For a manager to have someone like that on the field, it’s like Sol and Gunnarsson, you don’t coach people like that, who talk and tell people what to do. So I was surprised. I just feel we are more of a team."

“We’ve got competition for places now, I thought we were one short in midfield. Three or four in this country, abroad, loanees."

“Bristol City were impeccable with how they dealt with Reid and Marlon Pack. Lee Johnson and Steve Lansdown were spot on.”

So Warnock wanted 20m and ended up with a loan, great deal. Sorry but this doesn't wash with me.

I sense already he is playing the underdog card.

Luke, I feel the same way.

Always been a Warnock fan for 20 years, but last season & this season I am questioning him & doubting him? ? ?

You may not like his style but the gaffer has never come across as a liar to me.Sounds like we were a stepping stone for him and to those who think any blame is on the gaffer for this are nuts. This game is littered with mercenaries where the grass is always greener.People have got to accept that Reid saw his future elsewhere and the gaffer was right to move him on.

It doesn't take long, give the fans the success they crave, and they then want more or a different type, just like Charlton fans with Curbishley.

People want a Porsche and when they get one they want a Bently, it's human nature and football fans are the most fickle of all people.

i dont like his comments about Vassell. he said, i tried to sign him at rotherham...this set some alarm bells off, Rotherham were fighting relegation at the time and were desperate for a striker, we're fighting for promotion, there is a HUGE difference there in quality required

Exactly, when he came it was Bristol City this Bristol City that, he only came for the money and the Premier League, I always had my doubt's especially when everyone who knew him said he was always in Bristol, glad the rotten apple has gone!

A loan with 10 plus coming in. I would if took what we paid no right to ask for much more than that

How is it warnocks fault if the agent is stirring up a move. Got in reid ear and managed to get a move. Yeah let's blame Warnock for reid and his agent fishing for moves

Agents don't go and talk to clubs about a move for their player unless the player wants to leave?

It was Reid wanted to go the agent just negotiated the move, exactly Warnock just sold a player that wanted a move and was not impressing in training and the first game, so he had to get rid.

Yeah loan him to a rival, just what most clubs would do

Warnock can spin it how he likes, he said he wants 20m and ends up sending him on loan, madness.

Bamba said he would be a huge loss so nothing to suggest he is a bad apple. Agents just doing what agents do, you just say no.

Look at Zaha and that was with a big fee on offer. We have come across so weak its pathetic.

No I just believe we needed a quality Prem striker last season everyone saw it last August and yet we never got one and that for me was the reason for our relegation.

This season I don’t feel we have real quality to go up, I beg that I am totally wrong.

I want Warnock to succeed and want to be proven wrong.

Warnock has a lot or positives and is a good manager, plays the media and fans very well. He knows how he wants to play and knows how to get promotion.

But he also makes some terrible transfer decisions. I can't believe two years on we are still going with Peltier at first right back.

I just see a massively unbalanced squad with very little pace or goals. Really need these two strikers to come good.

Re: BREAKING NEIL WARNOCK: " TODAY UPDATED CARDIFF FANS "

I hope that the new signings do well and I think most of them will. Whyte sounds very promising, Vessel could surprise the many doubters, and surely Glatzel was worth a go. Flint is a good player(if a bit too similar to Morrison).
BUT what concerns me is the players that left.
Manga best defender we had and his pace will be missed.
Gunnerson made a hell of a difference when he came into the team in the Prem in protecting central defence. Can Pack do as good a job??(Doubtful.). The defence lacks pace.
And
Our 2 best strikers Reid and Zohore. Most people would have said that a team strengthening would keep them and get rid of Madine and Ward.

Warnock can't have it both ways. He said that if the player does not want to be at the club he will be happy to get rid. Both Madine and Tomlin have said that in the past and they are still here!

Agreed Luke :thumbright:

I also give every new player a chance, unlike many on here and slag them down before they kick a ball.
