It's not really doom abs gloom is it, it's just not what Warnock has previously said he wanted.

It’s not about the table, though. Warnock might get us winning enough games for a playoff place and we might get promoted that way. I’m just saying it’s an awfully unambitious (and risky) way of aiming for promotion. It’s alright having the outlook you have that everything is fine, but I would much rather have our squad 2 years ago with Grujic, Gunnarsson, Zohore, Bruno, a fit Bamba, a a fit Etheridge and an excited fan base to start the season.

The fans aren’t convinced, and the team itself doesn’t look convincing of promotion either. That’s why there’s “doom and gloom”. At the end of the day it’s only football and it’s not the end of the world, but as a supporter of course it’s a bit depressing.
