Do you think this has been the plan

Wed Aug 07, 2019 8:24 pm

Since NW announced his retirement, I think the squad will be formed to just be safe this year, steady the ship for his replacement. Cut away high earners and leave a bit of a safe blank canvas for the next guy?

Just thinking out loud but if it does turn out to be someone like bamba or a younger manager, as long as we are safe this season, tan could invest money saved this transfer window on a good push for promotion with a new manager, I don't know just think we will be rebuilding for a while.

I'm not so sure.

It's such a difficult division to get out of that surely the best chance is to try to get promoted back as soon as possible and certainly whilst there is the cushion of parachute payments.

As we only spent one season in the Premier League we only get parachute payments for two years (I think) and of course once they end it becomes even harder.

What's the point of warnock staying if we're aiming for mid table he's already said that why he staying to try and get his 9th promotion. And if by Christmas we're not in with a shout he will up and leave.

We’ve been run badly this summer. Didn’t help Dalman trying to buy Charlton.

Ive heared him mention about leaving by Christmas far to often, if he thinks it's a possibility then I think this will be a safe mid table year. What's the alternative buy loads of expensive players, then chuck a brand new manager in there if it doesn't work. The team wouldn't be his there would be books to balance, I just think warnock is doing this now to save the poor lad that follows less of a job, one where he can put his own stamp on the squad instead of loads of big time Charlie's on the books

Nonsense, warnock is a proud footballing man wanting to sign off with a final promotion.

He also said that last year was really tough mentally for him with his wife, sala, he said at the end of last season that he was told that it wouldn't be fair to just leave, so suggest arms may have been twisted. I reckon he doesn't think he'll get his 9th promotion because of conversations in that board room. Save money, sell players so we are the underdogs again and if it works it works, if it doesn't we have saved money. But I think once this team gels we will be close, I'm more concerned with who is coming in as manager, what style will we play, will warnock be there. But either way there's alot of stuff warnock says that's for show, you can tell more from his actions,

Tan told us what the plan is some time ago. We were up to our eyeballs in debt, facing being docked points for unpaid bills, as well as being dragged through the courts by the taxman. He told us all quite clearly that he intended to make the club debt free and running within it's means. Nearly everybody was delighted that we had someone from the other side of the world prepared to pump money into a club he had no links to whatsoever. He has stuck to his word, our debts are being reduced, we are in a better position now than we have been for almost as far back as I can remember, and he is listening to the fans. He changed us back to blue, and when many fans were saying that Warnock was the man for our club, he went out and got him. He is a businessman who had a long term plan rather than the short term boom or bust vision that a lot of foreign owners have. I bet there are plenty of fans of other clubs out there who would swap their owners for ours.

Totally agree, I love the championship and I'm fine if it takes a few years to get back up. The main priority is being debt free, get the training ground done and getting the right new manager for the future

Afraid a lot of football fans have no idea how a big business operates, and most, understandably enough, are not interested in two, five or ten years from now. They want instant success, but the problem is going about it with head in the sand can end up with the club back where it was before Tan arrived. There are plenty on here who will remember the bad days when any sort of point was a bonus, and most badly run clubs end up back there in the end. The majority of the big clubs at the top got there by having a long term vision, and succession planning. Liverpool were where we are now, and there are fans on this forum who will remember that time, and how they got to where they are now. They did things correctly, and Fulham the complete opposite.

Very true, I just hope we get a good manager in to to bring something new. I love nw but this was always going to be a season with huge change at the end of it, and I guess it's easier to find a manager of championship quality than Premier one
