Abusing players we're after

Wed Aug 07, 2019 6:40 am

Why do fans constantly slate players that we are linked with? Vassell being the latest. All over facebook and some comments on here about how we dont want him, he's 'crap' etc..

I can always remember pelts getting it on Twitter when we signed him and he could read all of it as his Twitter was linked to the comments.

If warnock wants him then I trust him. If he doesn't work out then we can worry about that afterwards.

We just get comments of 'just go and get dwight Gayle' as if it's literally as simple as that.

Lets just support the team. It's warnock's last year and if he doesn't get promoted we could end up with any old manager then who could struggle.
So make the most of it whilst we have him. Support him and the team and give us the best chance of promotion.

I think all football fans like to get excited by new signings for their clubs and for most that means signing players that they've heard of or promising young players from some of the bigger teams.

In these days of forums like this and social media like Twitter and Facebook you are going to get a wide variety of views and inevitably they are not all going to be positive. Even if we signed Ronaldo or Messi there would be some who found something to complain about -I bet if you look on the Derby forums there will be some who are critical of their signing of Rooney.

Ultimately footballers are judged by how they perform on the pitch and until a player signs for your team he can only be judged on what he's done before.

Some players with great playing records turn out to be poor when they sign (Fowler and Lambert for example) and some players who haven't been great at their previous clubs turn out to be fantastic when they sign for us (struggling to think of many at the moment - suggestions welcome!) but until they actually play for us people's opinions are going to be based on what the player has done so far.

Remember that the opinions on here and on social media do not reflect the fan base as a whole and I'm sure that all City fans will be hoping that any player signed is going to be a success.

Totally agree

Plus doom and gloom after one game

We've no right to sign top players nor for automatic promotion

If we’re not going to have the ambition, all the Chairman has to do is be honest with the fans.

Think that’s fair.

That’s a well thought out post and one I pretty much agree with.

If this Vassell signs then I’m not at all impressed and would be disappointed.
However, this is Warnock and this is cardiff City!
I won’t slag him out, in fact I’ll support him and give him a chance as he could be a gem.

Twitter and Facebook are full of idiots and trolls and are not worth listening to in general.

Spot on. We must have made at least 20 million profit last year and this year we start with up to 45 million than most of the others. If Tan wants to use some of this to repay what is owed to him, fair enough. But be honest about it.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion I guess. However, I wouldn't lose no sleep on half of the comments on this board.

Just people with poor understanding of football who just type dross. Fulham spent money and came down and Villa probably the next victims.

I'm quite happy to compete in championship and if that brings the promised land then so be it. But I hate taking beatings in the prem every week and hate scrapping for 40pts. Warnock for me every day of the week because he's from a era when football was not just about money and greed.

Reading some of the comments, a few fans aren't interested either, just want to poo poo all the club is doing,I for one am glad we have realised (long overdue ) we must stick to a budget, not splash large wedges of cash,on any player who may,or may not do well for us.those who believe after 1 season in the prem,we should blow the lot( all guesses by the way!)on trying to buy our way out of the championship, need to take stock of who,and where we are right now, look at Leeds, been trying to get up to the promised land, now are selling players,as if there lives depend on it! Slowly slowly catchy monkey  :laughing5: :old: :bluebird:

Re: Abusing players we're after

I think most players are intelligent enough not to give a hoot about social media. There are only a small number of fans who post regularly on forums like this, and when a player runs onto the pitch in front of 20k people, the last thing on his mind will be derogatory comments made by 5 or 6 people on social media. I think we all know that these forums are somwhere to express personal opinions, and that us fans using these forums often have a completely different point of view to the vast majority who have more important things to do than debating on social media.
