When was the last time you were excited by a signing? Considering we’ve won promotion, spent a season in the prem and now we are meant to be pushing for promotion, I haven't felt excited once. I had hopes for
Tomlin but felt he was past his best especially when the Bristol fans were happy to sell him.I love finding a gem but it would be nice to get a marquee signing for a change.

Gary Medel was the last time i was really excited about a signing

Robin Friday
Or maybe Jason Koumas.

Possibly Steve Caulker and Gary Medel about 6 years ago. Before that id say Chopra's return or Bellamy from Man City. Nothing in the Ole, Slade, Trollope, Warnock era mind. The closest over the last 5-6 years id say would be Bobby Reid.

When I thought Javi Guerra was coming straight to the team in January, what a waste of time that was

Emiliano Sala, and such a sad ending, we will never know what he could have done for us.

Marko Grujic, having known at the time what he was like.
*Edit* Ofcourse, Emiliano Sala too.

The first time Bellamy signed. It was so unexpected, and the fact he was playing for a top premier team and could have easily played for another prem team, but chose us. The second time round didn’t feel so special though, as it was more like he was coming home to end his career.

Harry Arter, knew he would be a great signing and crucial to us having any chance of staying up.
But then I was underwhelmed by Camarasa and he turned out brilliantly.

Probably Koumas.
Tue Aug 06, 2019 8:37 pm
Medel for me as well proven quality player.
Tue Aug 06, 2019 8:56 pm
Craig Bellamy and what a signing that was.
Was great signing Nicky Maynard but we all know how that went.
Sala i was optimistic, i say no more, bless his soul.
When we signed Zaha, Fabio and kenwyn Jones i was happy, tho didn't really work out.
Helguson wish we had a tough no nonsense forward like him right now.

Des Hamilton - effin Des Hamilton from Newcastle for Gods sake - we were lower league rubbish and we were signing this superstar from Premier League Newcastle in 2001 - The Geordies had paid a couple of million for him and he had played in the champions league FFS - I got the phone call from my brother when I was on top of a mountain in Italy with a crap reception and I couldn't believe it - not only Spencer Prior but Disco Des Hamilton was coming as well. Sam's promises were coming true
How bloody wrong was I.

Bellamy, Koumas and going back further Mike England and Dave Bennett.
Wed Aug 07, 2019 11:34 am
Bellamy
Koumas
Ramsey on loan
Thats it

Not Isaac Vassell
3m for yet another filler player, a striker who can't score and with fitness issues.
Awful transfer window. But will cheer them on nonetheless!
Wed Aug 07, 2019 11:40 am
Definitely not Daehli, Berget and the other one.
And definitely not Flint and Bacuna when Manga and Gunner going out.
Answering the question, Kavanagh and Thorne. Ramsey the best loan since Eddie Newton and Gary O'Neil.
Wed Aug 07, 2019 11:43 am
For a loan it has to be Bellamy. Other than that the late Billy Ronson. Even I'm too young to remember Trevor Ford but I bet the fans were really exited at the time.

TBH I know nothing about the player although I would like to know the actual transfer fee. I very much doubt it is £3m all upfront probably £1m down and everything else depending on promotion, appearances and goals.

Brian Clark

I know it didnt really work out but nicky Maynard was on paper a brilliant deadline day singing. Was banging in the goals for fun for bristol.
We had a brilliant transfer window that year with Bellamy signing etc. and then he was the final piece of the jigsaw.
Shame those knee injuries really finished his career at the top level.
Wed Aug 07, 2019 5:03 pm
Bellamy, Ramsey on loan, and Hasselbaink.
Not forgetting Godfrey Ingram aswell.
Wed Aug 07, 2019 6:28 pm
Phil Stant
Carl Dale
Proper Strikers we will never see the like again down the City..
Loved the Football back then even though it was lower league Football.
Wed Aug 07, 2019 7:44 pm
I cannot believe I forgot Phil Stant. Particularly as I perssonally ybegged Eddie May to sign him.
