Reports say Isaac Vassell will sign for Cardiff City by the end of today

Isaac Vassell appears to be moving closer to a transfer to Cardiff City.

Alan Nixon just on Twitter
“Cardiff. Late and very decisive move for Isaac Vassell at Birmingham. Pulled out of match tonight. More cash than Luton and Swansea paying ...”

Cardiff City are looking to beat Championship rivals to the signing of Birmingham City forward Isaac Vassell.

BBC

Wednesday 7th August 2019

Luton Town and Swansea City are both believed to be interested in the 25-year-old.

Vassell was withdrawn from the Birmingham squad to face Portsmouth in the EFL Cup on Tuesday with manager Pep Clotet admitting a move was close.

Cardiff are keen to add to their attacking options before Thursday's transfer deadline.

Hope not. Not a great goalscoring record for a striker.

I know I said that letting Ried go was a possibility, replacing him with a player of lesser quality is somewhat underwhelming!

Not a bad move. Pace. Not great on his own. But a strike force of pace is a good move for me.

I hope this is a joke. No promising youngster because he is 25 years of age, 1 goal for Birmingham, 10 for Luton in League two and before that playing for Truro. Just the type of signing to lead us back to Premier.

Another squad filler
We need starting 11 players , he is no better than what we have and will not improve us at all other than depth

If we wanted squad players we've already got them. Danny Ward, Gary Madine, and Omar Bogle. Im probably overreacting but I assumed a club wanting promotion and a solid back up would find a better quality of player than someone who's stats read (2017/18 - 9 games 1 goal. 2018/19 - 14 games 0 goals)

I agree. I expect Will Vaulks to cement his place in centre mid but we are really limited there and need another sure starter with either more control and flair, or a more natural defensive mid to protect our very samey and slow CBs. But Warnock has said several times that he is prepared to go with what he has at CM and RB if he can get another attacker in.

Vassell could be a good signing - he has been very unlucky with injuries and he has real pace - but that can't be the priority position can it?

Great.

Another striker who never scores.

We've had plenty of those recently.

Still no sign of the midfielders or experienced players we need who can improve on what we have.

This transfer window gets worse and worse.

He never scores because I believe he's only started 6 games since 2017 as did his cruciate ligament 4 games after joining them ? Before anyone complains about sick note ect 2013 promotion we sighned Campbell after he was recovering from same injury he did ok if remember. He needs new challenge always useful having a hungry player wanting to prove himself

Wasn’t Isaac Vassell the striker who give us a torrid time in our first game against them in our promotion season? He is lightening quick, and was a bit of a rough diamond similar to Mendez really.

A lot of the time it's about a player being with the right club at the right time. Could be a perfect fit or a big flop, has to be given the opportunity. Time to complain is if he has played a dozen or so games and failed to impress. Until then, why not get right behind him, he only needs to score once to match Zohore's efforts of last season. ;)

STEVE ZODIAK

I think we have had a bad run with strikers zohore hot and cold, madine cold so its inevitable if its a " cheap" stiker the auto though process is he is squad only, if that's the value, with madine costing 6 mill as a example and who has been a big disappointment this thought has passed through my head a few times which a lot also are guilty of.
We all just want proven quality or would prefer, rather than hoping someone might come good .

A new challenge?

A hungry player wanting to prove himself?

I suppose the West Brom fans are saying the same about Zohore.

Cardiff City have made a move for Birmingham City striker Isaac Vassell.
The Bluebirds want to bring in another option in attack before the transfer deadline on Thursday and have targeted the Blues’ forward, according to journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

Vassell, who is 25 years-old, is set to leave Birmingham this week having fallen out of favour there and has been linked with Championship duo Luton Town and Swansea City. However, it now appears Cardiff are in the driving seat to sign him.

He started his career at Plymouth Argyle and rose through the youth ranks at Home Park. He went onto make ten appearances for their first-team as well as enjoying loan spells at Truro City, Bideford and Weymouth.
Plymouth released Vassell in 2014 so he resigned for Truro on a permanent deal. He scored 28 goals for them in 94 games which earned him a move to Luton in 2016 after a trial.

Birmingham then paid a fee in the region of £1 million in August 2017 to sign him from Kenilworth Road. However, he has had his injury problems since his move to St Andrews and has been limited to just 24 appearances.

Great.

Strikers are judged on the goals that they score and this bloke's record at Championship level (1 goal in 23 games) suggest that we're replacing Ken with somebody who's strike rate in the Championship makes Ken look like Ronaldo,

I'm sure there are many players in the Championship and below who have done very little in their careers who are hungry and want to prove themselves - should we sign them all?

Seems to me that we are now at the stage where Warnock has got a list of all the players in the Championship and below and is just sticking a pin randomly in the names and seeing where it lands.

He must be on page 347 of his "preferred targets" list by now.
