Loic Damour, Lee Tomlin and Greg Cunningham are among

Tue Aug 06, 2019 9:25 am

Loic Damour, Lee Tomlin and Greg Cunningham are among those who are expected to depart from Cardiff City Stadium before Thursday's deadline if clubs can be found for them.

Loic Damour in talks with Scottish Premiership side Hearts, but there's a catch - reports

The Frenchman looks bound to leave Cardiff before the close of the window

Loic Damour's proposed move to Hearts is reportedly hanging in the balance.

Damour is currently in talks with Scottish Premiership side Hearts, although a number of clubs from the UK and abroad are believed to have shown an interest.

The Frenchman is destined to be moved on this summer, with Cardiff not even giving him a squad number ahead of the new season.

However, our sister title Edinburgh Live claims that any move for Damour will depend on whether Hearts are successful in their pursuit of Glenn Whelan.

Whelan is also believed to have held talks with the club, who are hopeful of concluding a deal.

Tomlin has worked hard to get fit played very well in the preseason friendlies and deserves a chance. Much better player than Bacuna in my opinion. I guess when Warnock takes against you you are out no matter if you are better than what we have got.

Tomlin spent nearly all Pre Season with the Under 23's and had about 25 minutes in Pre Season against Nice, during which time he looked decent in possession, before ambling back into position, to get back behind the ball, when we'd lost possession.

For personal reasons he wasted his opportunity to do well for us when we first signed him and I think we need to move on.

I'm pretty sure they all worked hard to get fit.
Infact I would say the others have worked hard to maintain their fitness over complete seasons rather than just when he decideds he wants to get fit. No doubt his snide remarks over social media from time to time don't help.

Already interest in Cunnigham from the looks of things, wonder who will be 2nd choice to Bennett if he goes, we've got plenty of defensive cover but as far as I'm aware, no natural left backs like them two.

If we were to sell or loan and god forbid, Bennett got a serious injury we would be quite stuck surely?

Unfortunately, Warnock apparently, does not want Damour. He is prob on a low salary, and has never let us down when needed.
I would rather City concentrated their efforts on getting someone to take Madine (and bringing in another player instead). High purchase price and high wages, for very little in return. Surely a loan move or better still find a buyer.

Attitude gets you a long way, Conolly's must be impeccable and he's won so many promotions so good around the squad no doubt!

Don't forget Connely was on his way last window but club pulled the plug due to injuries, always liked him myself, never let us down and comes across as a good pro.

But still, how many games has he played in the last 3 years?

Shame about loic , thought he did well in his first season.

I agree too and thought he was our best player at Gillingham in the cup. But I think he fell out big time with Neil as he refused to go out on loan to Scotland at the end of the January transfer window after saying he wanted first team football.

If true, getting rid of Tomlin is a massive mistake.

Yes never let us down. Though as he never plays for us he never has the opportunity to let us down. I would be a great pro if I never actually had to play for us.

Not many but Warnocks the boss and wants to keep him here, it may be down to positivity in the camp, experience, who knows but Warnock wants him here and Tomlin out and who are we to argue with the most promoted Manager in the leagues?

Would have kept Tomlin tbh but whatever, seems you don't get another chance once you've pi**ed Warnock off. I don't get why we'd let Cunningham go, I mean if Bennett gets an injury we're screwed really. in a 46 game season with cup games he'd probably play around 20 games and if he wanted to leave at the end of the season then fair enough we could get a replacement in next season.

I know, we are crying out for a creative midfielder...massive gamble by Neil, could cost him his job if he gets this one wrong as we are constantly being overrun in midfield. :(

Would be a shocking bit of business to let Tomlin go & keep someone like Connolly. May be a nice bloke but Connolly has played 4 games in the last 3 seasons (none in the last 2 seasons!) None of those 4 games were League games. 4 games in 3 seasons is not good business.

Would be gutted if Tomlin left - nobody’s likely to pay the fee or wages we want so why not keep him on the bench and use as an impact player. Or could rotate with Reid depending if we’re playing that clever player between the lines. For him to be praising the club and Warnock on how his situation last year was handled to being shipped out without a chance this season is strange. Sounds like there may be more to this than meets the eye

Totally agree about Cunningham we are buggered if Bennett gets injured!

GC currently wants out and tbf you can’t blame him or NW for that. Bennett has been constantly improving and never injured
Imho there could be a fair bit of movement in next 24 hours or so. If GC goes we could sign a replacement, same with Yomlin. Plus possibly a RB, midfielder and striker.

Former Preston North End left-back Greg Cunningham has been linked with a move to Rovers, with the club enquiring about a potential loan move from current club Cardiff City, according to Dominic Shawcross.

The 28-year-old is reportedly ready to end his time at Cardiff City and has attracted the interest of other unnamed Championship clubs, according to reporter Pete O’Rourke.

It’s clear to see why the full-back is ready to cut his losses, after making only seven appearances for the Welsh side since his arrival from Preston last year.

The former Manchester City youth graduate spent time on loan at Leicester and Nottingham Forest, before moving to Bristol City on a permanent basis in 2012. He would go on to make 91 appearances for the Robins, scoring four goals.

After three years at Ashton Gate, he was given permission to speak to Preston North End after accepting an undisclosed fee for the player. He would go on to make 103 appearances for the Lancashire side.

Last summer, Cardiff City signed Cunningham for a fee believed to be in the region of £4million, on a three-year-contract. However, he struggled to break into the first team, only making seven outings for the club.

Now Cunningham is ready to get back to playing football and so feels he must leave Cardiff City to do that.

Expect some players to be shipped out later in the month as League One and Two deadline ends in September
