Wasted position for our team

The player behind the striker worked well for us when Paterson was behind the striker last time in the championship. But we were playing Hoilett most games so we potentially needed an extra man up the field.
The thing is, now that we have Murphy & Mendez-Laing to break on the counter attack I don’t see why we need a number 10 behind the striker. I honestly think we would be better off having a defensive midfielder behind the 2 Center mids (Ralls & Vaulks hopefully), that way, defensively we’re a lot more compact in the middle, with a bit extra cover for the Center half’s too, and also when we do attack and we’re pushing them back we can push Ralls or Vaulks a little further if needed. I honestly think having that number 10 role in bobby Reid is fairly wasted, and the reward isn’t/hasn’t been worth the risk.

Does anybody else agree? It’s fine if you don’t, I just personally think it would suit us better, I’m not a manager so maybe there’s something I’m not getting.

I've been saying it before the team was picked, Warnock is naturally a defensive Manager, so I was surprised he didn't put Nelson in there to protect the new slow defensive centre half partnership, especially as we were away to Wigan with Windas upfront who ran Morrison ragged!

Warnock will work it out , don’t you worry about that .

I personally just think it needs tweaking not dropping Reid. Maybe when we go forward Bacuna should stay back more to cover for the counter and when we're defending Bacuna should drop to a CDM and Bobby slots into the CM position so we make a 4-1-4-1 when defending but a 4-2-3-1 when attacking. That's what we did in pre-season anyway.
