Relax and stop panicking

Sun Aug 04, 2019 11:49 am

C’mon guys it’s only the 1st game of the season, we played without our new striker and Etheridge got injured. Hardest thing for ANY keeper is to come on during a game as they aren’t fully warmed up as they get a few seconds having a ball thrown at their hands.

Anybody who thinks the season is over needs to sit down and reflect on things, there are still 45 games left, plenty of points to be won and plenty of time to get the job done.

Don’t write us off yet, get behind NW and the lads

Well Said Paul :thumbright: :bluebird: , one defeat and it’s panic stations with many and a meltdown.

Morrison off day. They made the most out of it. Brush it off onto the next one.

We’re only 3 points off the top

I’m optimistic how ever I am slightly concerned. If the main backline is peltier flint Morrison Bennett that’s a severe lack of pace which is going to cost us a few points. If you score two away at home you should win. We need to be beating teams like Wigan if we want to go up as champions it’s as simple as that

Only going to be a problem if we play high line so looks like we'll be playing deep with a calvary charge out by our speed merchants ?

There’s no point soaking up loads of pressure to hit on the break if you’re still going to concede 3 goals doing it. Can you see Glatzel getting 4 goals a game ? Drop Morrison and replace him with nelson for more pace or play 433 with a holding midfielder instead of a number 10. I do like warnock but his tactics are a bit off sometimes and he often gets his selection wrong. Bogle should of started yesterday he looked dangerous when he came on taking players on and even grabbing a goal, he needs to start Saturday

Unless Morrison is sold I think we all know Flint and Morrison are going to play. Our best bet is right back on loan with some pace who maybe able to cover them.

Agree with that. With both Flint and Slo-Mo at the back we will get caught sometimes for pace but Sir Neil knows what he's doing and it's a newish blend of players so we will get to be a hard-to-beat outfit soon enough. No need for panic.

On the plus side we scored two away from home, and Bogle has already equalled Zohore's 2018/19 goal tally. ;)

Mmmm people here saying beaten by pace but if play deep cannot do that as forwards will be playing in front not behind Morrison or flint! When we broke yesterday we looked threatening every time and got behind them nearly every time just bad luck poor finishing stopped us winning or at least getting a draw.

If we’re going to play sitting as far back as we do we need a good holding midfielder to be starting every game then. You can’t have your cake and eat it if warnock wants to play Reid at number 10 with a big man up top we need two quick cm’s to boss the middle and we need a quick full backs and a quick cb to play with flint/Morrison. Lack of pace will be our downfall this season if it’s not corrected early

You’re all forgetting Bamba is due back at the end of the month so Flint and Mozza have to prove themselves for the one CB spot.

We do however need a quality midfielder and a striker, hopefully the PL loan player coming in will be Harry Arter (NW’s own comments of PL Loanee if ‘they’ don’t get the deal they want)

That would leave a striker

You can lose so many games in this league and still win the title.

Re: Relax and stop panicking

Mon Aug 05, 2019 8:24 am

One loss and people completely loss their shit. Yes it was a disappointing loss as all goals could have been easily prevented. Hopefully it acts as a blessing in disguise though and forces the club to bring a few more players that may not have come in if we had won it. A CM to go straight into the starting 11 and a RB with a bit of pace is definitely needed.

Re: Relax and stop panicking

Actually the result in the opening day fixture has been a pretty accurate guide to the rest of the season for the last few seasons.

Last season lost to Bournemouth and ended up relegated. The previous season won our opening fixture and were promoted as we were under Malky when we won our first game. Can anyone remember when we last lost out first game and went on to have a really good season.

Obviously losing the opening game should not matter that much as there are 45 more to go but maybe the game exposed our weakness in that we have a rather creaky slow defence which will be exploited for the rest of the season. Perhaps the result is more an indication of how we will do than some are suggesting.

norwich won one of their first 6 last season. i wouldnt let the first game hold that much weight to be honest.

That's all very well until you go a goal behind and need to take the game to the opposition.

I read recently that the all conquering Reading side that smashed this division actually lost at home to Plymouth in their first match. Puts things into perspective doesn't it.

then went on a 25 (ish) game unbeaten run.

Sunderland lost their first 4 and got automatic promotion.

Norwich 5 points from first 6 games, finished on 94
