Wigan manager Paul Cook:

Wigan manager Paul Cook:

"If you'd asked me at 10 past three last Saturday - when we'd just gone 2-0 down at home against Burnley in our last pre-season friendly, and we couldn't even lift a leg - that we'd win an enthralling game like this first up, I'd have taken it."

"It was two teams who were genuinely trying to win a game of football. The game had everything and sometimes as a manager, you count yourselves fortunate when you come out the right side of a game like that.

"There were so many incidents, so many talking points, and to take all three points against such a very strong team is massive for us. Whenever you go a goal down, you'd be happy to take a point. To take all three points, you're absolutely delighted."

Agree.

But refreshing to hear an honest manager - especially after winning!

Yes nice of him to admit it though! funny enough NW summing up was roughly on same lines was just one of those games of non stop attack by both teams unfortunately we should have stepped back at half time to secure points but not as pessimistic as some of our fans. :o

For me though It doesn't fix the fact that we should have changed it while we were 1-0 up.

Hindsight is wonderful thing not sure if we needed to change things as we were fairly comfortable at halftime! But the goals are carbon copies of previous 2yrs poor wall at free kick and giving attackers far to much space ? But that's city for you go from comfortable to panicking in 5mins. :|

Game management is something we are not very good at. Remember Chelsea at home last season? Even after being cheated for their late equaliser, we should have been professional enough to keep the point we still had at that time.

Wasn't hindsight though.I was shouting at the telly as it was clear to me that they had changed tactics and our midfield was being overrun.

Unfortunately being at game I didn't see change of tactics? But seeing as they scored 2 goals in couple of mins at start 2nd half not sure in what way tactics could be changed ! If goals scored midway through 2nd half yes could say needed to change to adapt to whatever they may have changed but 5 minutes in 2nd half was far to early to see any change in tactics and didn't contribute to the 2 goals scored
