HAS ANYTHING CHANGED????

Sun Aug 04, 2019 5:53 am

This time last season I wrote on here that if we didn't buy a striker we would go down, we didn't and down we went, for me last summer was a poor window for Warnock and so far this one is turning out to be the same.

We lost 3 midfielders at the end of the season and only brought one in, God help us if we are to rely on falls and bacuna. We are short of 2 midfielders and another striker to go with our new signing.

At the back it's the same old problems, lack of pace and bamber won't be the answer because he is as slow as the rest of them. Last summer we never spent nowhere near enough to give us a fighting chance, this summer so far we've spent about £2 million on our squad, bring in quality this week Warnock or we'll finish in the bottom half of the table.

Shhh you'll start the blinkered ones off
I got ripped apart for saing this a few days ago. Now everybody is seeing that our signings are not good enough to change our first 11.

This window has been poor for our starting 11 but good for filling out the squad

We have lost all our starting midfield and replaced with Vaulks on bench , Ralls and Bacuna ... Manga with Flint who is maybe too similar to Morrison than a replacement for Manga? which has also forced Morrison to play on left side of central defence and he had a shaky game ! Zohore with a striker who couldn’t play yesterday so were weaker up front !

This means we still haven’t addressed the issues from start of last season I.e right back and a striker and now have a significantly weaker midfield !

I can see what you are saying, and agree with a lot of it. Don't agree with the bit about not having enough to give us a fighting chance last season, because we were in there fighting until almost the very end, and were only a couple of points short of staying up. I don't share the views of quite a few fans who think we have a squad capable of an almost certain immediate return to the PL.I think we may be capable of a top six place if luck goes our way, but even that is not going to be easy. As everyone says, this is a tough league to get out of. It will take a while before we know how competitive we are going to be this season, and I am certainly not going to worry just because we lost yesterday.

Let's wait until 10 games in before make judgement yes there are peseved weaknesses but take out the mistakes yesterday and the lack of luck in front goal and would there be this clammer about no good keeper poor midfielders? Was a strange game as both sides used same tactic of balls over the top bypassing midfield a lot so difficult to say how well midfield will perform in this season yes looks weaker but is NW playing same tactics last season? , we should got at least a draw probably a win wouldn't have been underserved.
Yes was at game and just my observations

The result yesterday is irrelevant. You only have to look at the team sheet to see that we havent filled the huge gap left by the departure of our midfield. Three out and one in- and even he was on the bench!

Agree Fulham fans have more to whinge at than our fans after their game? Besides it's a case of how did we lose that game when really we should have at least got a draw ? But to early to throw baby out of pram yet! :old:

Forget result for a moment we did more than enough to win game! Their manager said they were lucky to get all 3 points? But my beef is upfront people having a go at madine who played upfront on his own with no support every last forward as suffered same fate as madine. Yet bogle scores and is brilliant he only scored because he was in middle with everyone else and got great ball in middle , if madine on pitch that's where he would been to score? Our tactics of one upfront is never going to work as we've seen previously.

I have to say im genuinely disappointed with the lack of spending from our club this season. I thought we'd have really gone for top quality and spent around 15m considering the money we made from getting promoted and the parachute payments and the lack of big earners here would allow us to do that. We've only spent a net spend of around 2m which considering where we were last season is shocking tbh.

This is nothing to do with losing yesterday, many of us on this forum have been concerned all summer with the lack of quality which still hasn't been brought in. We have two players from Oxford, one from Rotherham, one from Newport and only one championship player. It's also a concern that we have virtually not spent a penny so far in this window, Wigan will have spent about £15million in a week if they get the player they have bid for, Without being reckless, we have to spend money this week on quality other wise it will be mid table this season.

Cant disagree with these posts. Signings have been underwhelming. We have known for months that we need a cm and for years we need a rb. Lack of ambition in evidence. Hope nw sorts it before Thursday or it could be a long season.
