Think we’ve seen now why keepers generally don’t make the leap from league two to the championship. Far too slow to make a decision on the first goal and less said about his positioning on the second the better.
Third goal dare I say could’ve been saved by a championship level keeper with the ability to jump

Etheridge was poor in his first few Cardiff games and look at him now. Don’t be so eager to write our players off

Easy to say things but you was not in goal and if you think Etheridge would saved 3rd your having a laugh and 1st goal was a deflection beside he was on pitch only 2 mins before it... what about the crucial save near end shows what he's capable of!
Sat Aug 03, 2019 4:57 pm
Thought he looked a bag of nerves kicking was awful and positioning poor

Joe day I don’t think was expecting to get game time today, it seemed to catch him out. There have been some stinkers from keepers this weekend, and his are nowhere near that bad. Muric for forest is having an absolute mare. Joe day will grow I am sure.

Day was NOT at fault for any of the goals morrison was for the first and even etheridge would not have saved the second you guys are unbelievable

Different opinions I suppose. First goal he should’ve been on the ball straight away although it’s obviously easier for me to say now. Second goal though he left far too much space to his back post almost as if he was stood a couple metres too far to his left
Sat Aug 03, 2019 5:09 pm
And I’m not saying he was exclusively at fault for the goals. Outfield errors from Morrison and Bacuna led to the situations occurring but Day should’ve done better

He got caught out for the first one. 2nd one similar. But end of the day he shouldn't have had to face the shot.
Morrison today was for fault for 2 goals and a pen!
Harsh to blame him really.

Not many keepers come on as a sub prepared it dont happen often at all.
Hope he got his jitters out of the way today

For what it’s worth he did make a decent save later on but we were forewarned by Newport fans that his positioning and decision making is weak

Agree, what could he do about the 1st and 3rd maybe the 2nd but that’s debatable. If Etheridge was still in goal I think it would have been the same. His defence let him down.
1st game and he’s getting written off. Only Cardiff City fans can do
It.
Imagine losing next week. This place will be in meltdown.

We have some of the worst fans to be honest. It's embarrassing.
Morrison got turned inside out for the second goal. If anyone was to blame for the first it's peltier, but it was fortuitous. You got someone blaming the keeper, another calling bacuna poison and another saying our captain should be dropped after one game.

I totally agree, but possibly I was the person about Morrison. I stand by it. Can't be to blame for 2 goals and give a pen away and play the next game. Captain or not. If it was flint everyone would want him dropped.

It’s instant success or meltdown at this club. Embarrassing.

You can. Morrisons our captain and he plays.
I remember the horrible game he had up at derby last time. Followed it up with a brilliant performance v hull. He's the leader of the team and he gets more chance than someone who's just arrived that's just the way it works.
If Nelson is to play at the back next week. Then it'll be for flint.
Sat Aug 03, 2019 5:41 pm
Always the same on here. Never mind, a win next week and we will suddenly be a team of world beaters nailed on for the title. A defeat and we may as well accept we are on our way to Div 1.

Daft to single out Day, you could say his positioning for one was slightly questionable but it was also a very good finish.

No good trying to sugar coat it , he is not good enough (yet) or experienced enough at this level. Smithies has to start over him
His positioning was awful and made him too easy to beat

That's your opinion.
I think he will start if Etheridge isn't fit and I don't think he was the issue today.
Sat Aug 03, 2019 6:22 pm
Absolutely nothing day could do about either goal. Etheridge will be backni a few weeks anyway so he will be fine filling in for a few games.
Sat Aug 03, 2019 6:43 pm
How can you write a player off after one game????
Ffs give the lad a chance!
Sat Aug 03, 2019 7:01 pm
Absolutely nothing day could do against 2 of the goals today, but how he gets above smithies in the pecking order is a complete joke sorry. Embarrasing an thats only my personal oppinion

Joe Day was bought for ‘one the future’,he made the bench today and was called into action very early in his Championship career.
He may have been at fault and then he may have be judged unfairly,it’s all different options.
But lets be honest,he needs the backing of everyone least of all us fans.

Who can forgive getting nerves eh
Joe has taken a massive step... lets give him some time to adjust and find his feet... or Hands in this case...

For me, I’ve never seen this guy Day play so I’m not judging him and certainly not after one game.
However, in the championship you need experience in a goalkeeper especially and Smithie brings that along with being a very good player.
I’m guessing he’s not in Warnock’s plans as he played in the u-23’s yesterday
I also think he wants to play games and that’s why he’s probably looking for a move. I would definitely bring him in for the next match if he’s still with us.
