Midfield non existent

Ralls did well but we are crying out for a player who can keep hold of the ball

I think the instruction to the back four is lump it forward, a new midfielder will just get a bad neck watching the ball fly over him.

It does show what we miss without Gunnar. For his faults he was a calming influence there. We lacked a great deal of composure

A bright opening with the goal, but after that, he was like the rest of the midfield.. headless and lacking that bit of quality.

Arter would have harassed their midfield from 0 to 90. We miss urgency when it's needed and calmness when it isn't. Bacuna did "ok". Ralls "ok". We need them to do more than "ok"

I think before Thursday we need

A keeper
1 or 2 full backs
A centre half
2 midfielders
2 strikers.

Should be easy enough!

Even under Russell Slade we had variety and actual midfielders who could play CM, not a right back.
Immers, Whitts, Dikagchoi, Gunnarsson. We’ve got ralls, bacuna and Vaulks. Not enough players and not good enough

It goes without saying that Warnock knows far more about the game than any of us...in which case you'd hope he sees what the majority of us see....and that is we needed to recruit 3 midfielders to replace the 3 that we lost from last season. Instead he only buys one replacement and doesn't even use him! Everyone can see that we need to hold onto the ball longer in order to build our own play. If you can't hold onto the ball it keeps coming back at you, thereby increasing the pressure on your defence.
Hopefully Warnock will use the next few days to bring in a quality midfielder, even if it's only a season long loan.
I fear that failing to do so will seriously undermine any promotion challenge.
From a personal point of view I'd like to see us having a bit more possession... it's boring living off scraps and watching your team being outpassed by ordinary teams.
