I thought last weeks set up against Nice was with this game in mind.

The last friendly game of pre-season are usually a sort of dress rehearsal mate.

I think that's as good as we've got right now to start.

Madine needs to up his game with the new guy breathing down his neck and tweaks can be made regarding Vaulks & Whyte etc.

Probably playing Madine to justify signing him, every manager gets it wrong now and again , unfortunately Madine has been a shocker.

Did ok in game held up play best he could but again no midfield within 20yds of him sounds familiar? Sorry never going to have a decent striker scoring regular when play on your own with 2 defenders marking you. May as well play with extra midfielder and counter attack probably work out better!

Thought Madine looked very poor,granted the service to him was not very good but we looked much better when Bogle came on he played with far more energy and put himself about a bit. He also did something Madine seems incapable of doing and actually scored a goal. How many games does Madine have to go without scoring before he is dropped.

No idea because he never gets a chance to play regular! Bogle scored because we got wide something that didn't happen that much earlier in game. Bogle will suffer same as every other strike as done in past 3yrs lack of help upfront even bogle struggled with the long balls whilst being marked by 2 defenders which madine had aswell ? So it's all well and good having pop st madine but remind me how many strikers have we tried and all have failed there lies the problem having a battering ram forward who loves playing on his own.

Maybe I am being to demanding when it comes to Madine but when we sign a centre forward for £6 million I expect him to be able to score one goal a season I actually don't think that is demanding too much. Gary Madine has been with us for three seasons and the number of goals he has scored is nil which is behind my one goal a season target. Bogle has met my one goal a season target for this season already. If a lumbering jock full back can score for us playing up front against premier league clubs I get disappointed abut centre forwards who can't meet my one goal a season target. Perhaps I should revise my target to one goal every four seasons but the way he is going I am not sure he could manage that.
