Neil Warnock was asked today.
You could do with a proper goal-scorer…
NEIL WARNOCK:
We’ve always struggled for goals since I’ve been here. Even when Ken was in the team, we struggled. I think the only patch we had was that few months when Ken hit a golden streak. They’ve done well pre-season, Gary Madine in particular has done really well.
I just feel that Robert gives us something different. He can do the channels as well, he’s quite mobile, got a touch of pace.
I’m hoping we can get him in the right areas.
I don’t think the physical side will worry him too much.
I’ve explained to him about the Championship, and he’s got a bit of an edge to his game as well.
I think we’ve just got to see how we are.
We haven’t really had a goal-scoring striker for quite a while really, consistent, double figures. But I don’t want to put too much on his shoulders.
The sort of strikers we were looking at, for nothing, they were £10, 12,15million. And I don’t think we’re in that sort of league yet to do that. I know one or two teams in our division have spent that on players, but I think we’ve just got to be realistic as well and I think he fitted the bill.
I thought it was a realistic figure for a lad who’s in the middle of his prime, just starting to get to his prime, and hopefully can have a few good years here
