Swansea have agreed a season-long loan deal with Newcastle for goalkeeper Freddie Woodman.

The 22-year old has featured in two of Newcastle’s pre-season friendlies and played in three FA Cup matches last season - but is determined to gain more regular first-team experience.

Woodman represented England from U16 level through to U21s and worked with Swans manager Steve Cooper when he was England’s U17 coach. During that time, the pair won the U17 World Cup, with Woodman saving a penalty in the final against Holland and winning the tournament’s Golden Glove award.

Swansea have fought off competition from a number of Premier League and Championship clubs to sign the goalkeeper, who has a year left on his contract.
