CORNER'S. AND THROW IN'S THIS SEASON

Tue Jul 30, 2019 6:42 pm

Corner's and throw in's are going to look good with glatzan, morrison, flint, and bamba, in the box they will frighten the sh.te out of defences who' s taking the long throws now gunnners gone.

Vaulks has got the long throw in his locker. So if he’s starting I’d imagine it will be him. Obviously Mozza can but he’s more of a danger on the other end of it.

Add Patterson to that. He’s a great header of the ball.

I thought that Ciaron Brown's long throw in on Saturday was very good and he didn't seem to be trying. Much better than anything we saw from Gunnars in the last year or so. How close is he to the team ? To be honest I didn't even know he was.

I was hoping that with Gunnar leaving we may have seen the odd short throw this season but with Vaulks having a long throw apparently and us now signing mainly skyscrapers it looks like every single throw is going to be launched.

I remember the last time Stoke got promoted it was like playing against the land of the giants - virtually every player was over six foot tall and they were strong with it.

Tall players and an attacking game based on long throws and set pieces - we're the new Stoke!

"sounds dire" did you miss "straits" or where you commenting on our attacking tactics i for one cannot wait for the ball to be chucked in and see what happen's

I think it's the predictability that is most frustrating. It's a good weapon but not all the time. And there are chances to catch teams off guard when they are setting up to defend with a throw short to someone in space. Unfortunately morrison is also too slow to spot this as he often is defending too. But a get the threat of a good long throw.

I agree. Not every time.

On Saturday I'm sure Danny Ward had a go at Brown. Everyone set up for the long throw then Ward found a great bit of space edge of box. Still launched it in.

Brown is a fantastic CB not a LB. it’s just a shame for him that we already have good options in that area he is more than good enough to starting for most champ sides at CB. Watch a lot of U23s and he is our best player by far IMO with only him and Waite possibly being good enough to play for the first team if given chances this year. As for long throws Vaulks can launch it much further than Gunner ever could. Almost as far as Andy Legg.

It’s all about mixing it up for me monty.
It all got so boring and predictive with Gunnar and his bloody towel. Time after time doing the same thing with no result!
