Great news, sounds like an up & coming prospect, Oxford fans definitely aren't happy that they are losing him. He will good backup to Murphy and Mendez, will need him in to make an impact aswell in a long and difficult season.
Welcome to the bluebirds Gavin

...and Hoilett too.
Did anyone else notice that he looked as if he’d put on some timber Saturday?

Didn't recognise him he's bulked up his torso remarkably since last season.

I only saw highlights on YouTube tbh but at first glance I thought he looked a bit podgy but maybe he’s been working out.

Why do we need another winger ?
Mendez, Murphy, Junior even Reid can play on the wing , given that he so quick.
I would have thought would have wanted to get a striker in, unless of course that means we are about to offload one of the above ? - which I sincerely hope we arent

We’ve got three wingers.
Warnock plays with two wingers.
We need four wingers.
It has no bearing on needing or securing another striker.

Cardiff City are closing in on a £2 million cash-plus-player deal for Oxford United attacker Gavin Whyte, according to the Mirror (29 July, page 51) while Omar Bogle on his way to the Kassam Stadium as part of the switch.
The 23-year-old has certainly come a long way in the last 12 months.
Whyte has been viewed as one of the brightest talents in Northern Irish football for some time now. He scored 21 goals in his final season for the Crusaders, winning the Ulster Footballer of the Year award before sealing a move to Oxford United.
And, after just one season with the League One outfit, Whyte is set to be offered the chance to make a step up with Neil Warnock’s Cardiff.
"I expect him to leave," Oxford manager Karl Robinson told Wales Online over the weekend.
"The bid that we’ve had that we’ve still not 100 per cent accepted – and there’s still loads of things that can go right or wrong – is good.”
It seems that the chance to bring in Bogle in Whyte’s place has made the decision far easier for Oxford. The former Grimsby Town striker is a centre-forward rather than a wide player like Whyte but he should provide plenty of goals in the third tier.
Nottingham Forest were keen to sign the Whyte too, according to the Sun (July 2, page 6) and there is still time for them to react.
Only two players in Forest’s squad hit double figures in the Championship last season and, despite the additions of Albert Adomah and Sammy Ameobi, Sabri Lamouchi’s side are still lacking a bit of pace and a goal-threat in wide areas.

We can still
Get a striker in.
This deal was obviously just done first.

if bogle goes as part of the deal its almost like we are deliberately reducing our options

Oxford fans seem to rate him very highly. Very fast apparently and gets goals. He scored 41 in 46 appearances for Crusaders and 9 in 36 for Oxford last season so one who contributes goals which we might need if we don't sign a new striker. Would not surprise me if he does not start playing regularly for us this season certainly Hoilett Murphy and NML will have to fight for their places with this guy lurking in the background.

I get the feeling that once this lad is in it'll be the others trying to get him out.
